SUMTER, SOUTH CAROLINA: Charles Slacks Jr, a military veteran is being accused of carrying domestic mass shooting, which killed three children and an active-duty soldier. The suspect went to his ex-wife’s home and started shooting at around 10 pm, Tuesday, March 21, in Sumter, South Carolina, located about 45 miles east of Columbia, according to the police.
The 42-year-old reportedly shot the soldier first, who was sitting in the backyard, and then killed the three children, who were ages 5, 6, and 11, said, Sumter Police Chief Russell Roark at a news conference on Wednesday, March 22. After shooting the children, including two of his own, Slacks killed himself with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The children were sleeping when they were killed, as reported by NY Post. Apparently, the only survivor of the mass shooting was Slacks’ ex-wife. Police are yet to name the 38-year-old victim, due to the military’s need to notify the next of kin first, according to ABC News.
