CBS 'Evil': Demon George is way more terrifying than Pennywise, enough to cause fans trouble sleeping at night
This article contains spoilers for episode 1.
While the entire world is yet to recover from Pennywise's creepy smile that has bagged the starring role in all of our worst nightmares, CBS dropped a whole other level of terrorizing supernatural entity in its new show 'Evil' and fans are pretty much losing their sleep over the new demonic avatar.
The plot focuses on skeptic clinical psychologist Kristen Bouchard (Katja Herbers) who comes into contact with priest-in-training David Acosta is digging deep into serial killers and their claims of demonic possessions while they committed the crimes. But when not investigating these odd cases, Kristen is also being haunted by a terrifying demon in the middle of the night, that creeps up on her in a very 'Insidious' style and hovers over her body while she lies awake at night. For reference, here's what it looks like:
Me: “I think I’m gonna watch that new show Evil on CBS. I mean how scary can it be? It’s network tv.”

With that appearance, there's no surprise that fans are pretty much shaken, which also contributes to the brilliance of the show. Taking to Twitter, @IrishMoonDancer pointed out: "Love that Kristen is a non-believer but DAMN if I see that creature in my bedroom tonight!! It may take me a while to get to sleep tonight." The demon, who likes to call himself 'George' has terrified fans enough for them to look away from the screen every time it appeared. Like user @Xayian vouched for everyone else who saw the first episode: "It's been a *very* long time since something I've watched made me not look because it scared me. Good job."
Along those lines, @kaeupton3 remark: "Holy Ghosts! What a premiere episode of #EVIL!! Scary thing...... at my family home since 1969 & I was age 4 we have ALWAYS called our ghost GEORGE! Did I say spine tingling b4? #EVIL is nail-biting, hair raising, spooky good!!! I'm hooked!!!"
And then there were the not so pleased people who were visibly put off by how terrifying the demon was. Like @TheTerribleHook noted: "My whole family excitedly gathered around our ye olde television set to watch the #Evil pilot. And then you lost us at the midway point, right where a demon named George began pleasuring himself in the corner of a character's bedroom. We're out. For good."
'Evil' airs on Thursdays at 10/9c, only on CBS.
