'Catfish': Who is Apryl? Model's love interest Daryl could be a woman, here's why
'Catfish' episode on Tuesday, June 1, will document the story of a Montreal-based woman named Apryl. She is the first Canadian to appear on the show over the past eight seasons. She has been in touch with an Ohio-based man named Daryl for a couple of years now. For the past year, Apryl felt that she wanted more than just friendship. However, there are a couple of incidents that have thrown her off and left her wondering if the person she has been talking to is indeed who she thinks he is.
"Apryl suspects that Daryl did not just take a simple social media break and is hiding something fishy," reads the summary of the episode which will yet again see Nev Schulman and Kamie Crawford coming to her rescue. Who are Apryl and Daryl on 'Catfish'?
Apryl is a 22-year-old woman from Montreal, Canada. She is completely smitten by Daryl, an artist, and it all began when they came in contact over Instagram. He sent Apryl a sketch of a selfie she had posted to her account, leaving her completely impressed. "No one has ever approached me the way he did or sent me so many sweet messages. Daryl makes me feel like a confident woman, he makes me feel happy," Apryl wrote in her email to Schulman and Crawford. Daryl didn't stop at one sketch, he continued to send her his illustrations, and each time she fell a little harder for him.
Is Apryl being catfished by a woman?
Apryl reported a couple of strange incidents to Schulman and Crawford involving Daryl's social media activity. "I had no reason to doubt Daryl and our relationship was growing. But in the past few months, some strange things have been happening." Apryl received a 'hi' from Daryl's sister Candace's account which was immediately followed by a message from Daryl asking her to "ignore that message".
Now there are two possibilities in this case. First, it could be a woman who is adopting the persona of a man to chat with Apryl and build a connection with her. Second, Daryl is indeed a man but he has created an alternate profile under the name of Candace to form connections with other women on the internet. Whatever might be the case, we will find out only when the episode premieres.
