'Catfish': Dustin finally meets his virtual boyfriend of eight years Keegan, but was he being catfished?
Dustin, 24, called up 'Catfish' hosts Nev Schulman and Kamie Crawford because he wanted them to step in and make him come face to face with Keegan, his online boyfriend of eight years, the one who he had never met nor seen on a video call.
Keegan had ghosted him and Dustin couldn't come to terms with why that happened as there was absolutely nothing that happened between them that could have led to this. He had developed intense feelings for Keegan and he approached Nev and Kamie via an email where he poured his heart out about how he feels about Keegan. After all the investigation by the hosts, they were able to bring them face to face. However, they didn't look excited to see each other for the very first time.
None of them were being honest about how they felt about each other but Kamie pushed Dustin to open up to Keegan, lay everything on the table and then see how it goes from there. Turns out both the young adults wanted to play it cool and not act too outwardly towards each other in order to not get their feelings hurt. However, before all this could happen and they could come face to face, there was a whole lot of drama that ensued and for some time, it also felt like Keegan was a middle-aged man trying to engage with a much younger Dustin.
When Keegan decided to ghost Dustin, he made sure to cover all bases and he had the latter blocked on social media as well. During the investigation, Nev and Kamie found a comment on one of Keegan's photos by a person named Kyle and upon further sleuthing, they found out that both of them were very close. There was also the thought about Kyle being Keegan's sugar daddy. Also, the number Dustin used to speak with Keegan was found to be registered under Kyle's name. However, in the end, it was revealed that they were just friends and Keegan had borrowed Kyle's phone when he was strapped for cash.
Coming back to both of them not being honest about their feelings, Keegan admitted that he had hurt a lot of people because of his attitude towards people in his life and it was something he was working on. In an update about him at the end of the episode, it was revealed that Keegan was working on his relationships and he and Dustin started talking once again and were finding emotional support in each other and they also planned to meet once the pandemic blows over.
