Cash App founder and former Square CTO Bob Lee, 43, stabbed to death in San Francisco
SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA: Bob Lee, the founder of Cash App and the former chief technology officer of Square, was fatally stabbed early on Tuesday near downtown San Francisco, according to reports. According to the San Francisco Police Department, officers responded to a stabbing report at around 2.35 am on Tuesday.
Police reported that they discovered a man, 43, who appeared to have been stabbed. The man was taken to a nearby hospital in a life-threatening condition, where he eventually died, according to the police. San Francisco police have not released any details about the suspect, as per reports.

'Crazy Bob'
Often called "Crazy Bob," the IT genius previously served as Square's chief technology officer and was a Google software developer. Lee also contributed to the creation of Android's fundamental libraries. The businessman owned stock in SpaceX and released a video from the Tranche 0 satellite launch on April 2. It ended up being his last tweet on Twitter.
According to his MobileCoin bio, he also assisted the World Health Organization with their mobile app during the Covid-19 pandemic. After founding the social network Present, Lee made investments in businesses like Figma, Clubhouse, Beeper, and Faire.
'A force of nature'
Following Lee's death, tributes have poured in from throughout the IT sector. Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey credited Lee for being "instrumental" in the creation of CashApp and wrote, “Bob was instrumental to Square and Cash App.” His death is “heartbreaking,” he added, as reported by Investing.com.
Joshua Goldbard, the CEO of MobileCoin, said, "Bob was a force of nature. Helped to birth Android and CashApp into our world. Moby was his dream: a privacy protecting wallet for the 21st Century. I will miss him every day," as reported by ABC7 News.
The CEO of the cryptocurrency platform Abra, Bill Barhydt, tweeted, "He (Bob) was a generous, decent human being who didn't deserve to be killed." Meanwhile, tech entrepreneur Greg Osuri said the industry had "lost one of its best." No one has been arrested in connection with Lee's death so far.
