Why was Dan McLaughin arrested? Internet asks Cardinals broadcaster to 'get a good lawyer'

ST LOUIS, MISSOURI: Dan McLaughlin, a play-by-play announcer for the Cardinals and Bally Sports Midwest TV, was detained on suspicion of felony drunken driving on Sunday night in a St Louis suburb, according to the police. The St Louis County Prosecuting Attorney announced a charge of "persistent offender of driving while intoxicated on Monday, December 5. 

This crime is classified as a Class E felony and carries a maximum prison sentence of four years. The 48-year-old McLaughlin was jailed at the St Louis County Justice Center on a $25,000 cash-only bond as of Monday night after being found guilty of drunk driving twice, in 2010 and 2011.

The Creve Coeur Police Department made an immediate release that read, "On December 4, 2022, around 6:30 pm, the Creve Coeur Police Department received two separate reports of a suspicious vehicle believed to be operated by an impaired driver. While checking the area, an officer located the vehicle eastbound on Ladue Road at I-270."

The release added, " After following the white sedan a short distance northbound I-270 and noticing the driver was failing to maintain a single lane, the Creve Coeur police officer affected a traffic stop. During the stop, the officer discovered several clues to indicate the driver was impaired. Based on the results of a field sobriety test, the officer's personal observations along with the two independent reports called into the police, the driver was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated."

The release identified Daniel McLaughlin as the violator. It stated, "The driver, who was identified as 48-year-old Daniel McLaughlin of Town and Country, MO, was transported to the Creve Coeur Police Department for booking and processing. On Monday, December 5, 2022, an in-custody warrant application was made at the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, and charges were issued for a Persistent Offender of Driving While Intoxicated. McLaughlin was transferred to St. Louis County Justice Center, where he is being held on a $25,000 cash-only bond. There were no injuries or property damage reported."



 

Internet slams McLaughlin, as he repetitive violater of the laws, one of the Twitter user wrote, "Pretty sure its his at least third he better get a really good lawyer". Another user wrote, "Lmao a poverty team and its poverty broadcasters"

Another user wrote, "He will do prison this time…this is at least his 3rd arrest for DWI. A guy making 7 figures can’t call an Uber?"



 



 



 

In response to McLaughlin's most recent legal issues, Bally Sports and the Cardinals jointly issued the following statement: “We have been made aware that Dan McLaughlin was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated on Sunday night. We are very disappointed to hear this and are working to gather additional information before offering further comment,” as reported by MLB.

In November 2010, McLaughlin admitted guilt to driving under the influence in Chesterfield, Missouri, and was sentenced to two years of probation and community service. After colliding with another car and fleeing the scene on September 25, 2011, McLaughlin received a second DUI ticket.
