After former President Donald Trump suddenly transformed into pro-vaccine and pushed back against claims made against the Covid-19 innoculation during an interview with Candace Owens on national television, the latter was trolled on social media. One of the people who mocked Owens was conservative columnist Meghan McCain, which Owens did not take lying down.

"Trump schooling Candace Owens with facts and logic regarding getting the vaccine is really a sight to behold. Credit where credit is due and I hate the guy," McCain wrote in a tweet, which started an online feud between her and Owens, and which spanned across hours and a series of tweets. "Hey Meghan— did you know that the overwhelming majority of people dying and/or being hospitalized from Covid-19 are clinically obese? People like you love the vaccine because it allows you to pretend that you care about health. People like me see right through that bullshit," Owens replied, adding in another tweet, "Why don’t you come get this medical paper which correlates clinical obesity to a 113% higher chance of hospitalization, 74% higher chance of ICU admission, and a 48% higher chance of death. 'But muh vaccine!!!'"

However, McCain was not the one to back down, writing, "Your post-trump pro-vaccine interview spiral has been really fun for all of us to watch." To this, a raging Owens wrote, "You are slipping into utter irrelevancy and its sad to watch. Do you want to come on my show, Meg? Just say the word and I'll have my producers reach out. That way, you can actually be in an episode as opposed to spending your full day tweeting about it."

McCain hit back with, "Coming from the woman who did an entire IG Live tonight talking at LENGTH about how obese I am as opposed to addressing the fact that her hero fact-checked her. You spread misinformation about the safety of vaccines. You're a danger to public health." Her conservative rival denied the claims, saying, "Um…An entire IG live about YOU? Have you lost your mind? Try—I told people I was running late to my live because I was responding to your fake health concerns on Twitter. I then proceeded to do 'an entire IG live' regarding Guardasil, DTap and Hep B vaccines, as planned. Also, “get fucked”. Really, Meghan? So gutter and trashy."

What happened in the Owens-Trump interview?

In a Tuesday episode of the Daily Wire show 'Candace', Trump told Owens that he takes credit for the “incredible speed” of the development of the COVID vaccines during his time in office. “I came up with a vaccine, with three vaccines,” Trump told Owens. “All are very, very good. Came up with three of them in less than nine months. It was supposed to take five to 12 years.”

Owens then tried to claim that more people died from the virus in 2021 than in 2020 even with the vaccine being administered to the public. “Yet more people have died under COVID this year,” Owens told Trump. “By the way, under Joe Biden, than under you and more people took the vaccine this year. So people are questioning how—” She was cut off by Trump who pushed back on her claims, saying, “Oh no, the vaccines work, but some people aren’t the ones. The ones who get very sick and go to the hospital are the ones that don’t take the vaccine. But it’s still their choice. And if you take the vaccine, you’re protected,” Trump told Owens. “Look, the results of the vaccine are very good, and if you do get it, it’s a very minor form. People aren’t dying when they take the vaccine.”
