'Call Your Mother': Release date, plot, cast, trailer and all you need to know about the ABC sitcom
After Katherine Hahn's 'Mrs Fletcher' and Melissa McCarthy's 'Life of the Party', comes yet another story about a single mother suffering from the empty nest syndrome. However, she tries to jumpstart her life much to the chagrin of the kids. Titled 'Call Your Mother', the ABC sitcom stars Kyra Sedgwick in the lead with some familiar faces and some new ones alongside her.
After starring in ABC's 'Ten Days in the Valley' and most recently appearing as the now-dead Madeline Wunch in NBC's 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine', Sedgwick returns to TV again. Plot
According to IMDb, "When an empty nester starts wondering how she ended up alone while her children live their best lives thousands of miles away, she decides her place is with her family and reinserts herself into their lives." Sedgwick's titular mother decides to move cross country to be closer to her children, and they sure don't approve of it.
Cast
The titular mother, Jean Raines, is being played by Sedgwick. Starring in the role of Jean's daughter Jackie is Rachel Sennott, while Joey Bragg plays Jean's son, Freddie Raines. The cast will also see Patrick Brammall as Danny, Emma Caymares as Celia, Austin Crute as Lane, with Sherri Shepherd recurring as Sharon, and Jackie Seiden as Cheryl.
Creator
The upcoming multi-camera sitcom is being co-created, co-written, and co-executive produced by Kari Lizer for ABC Signature and Sony Pictures Television. Lizer is no stranger to television, having played the triple role of an actress, writer, and producer. is her career. After being co-executive producer for 'Will & Grace' for three years, Lizer created and executive produced the CBS sitcom 'The New Adventures of Old Christine' that was canceled by the network in May 2010. It was labeled a 'sexist decision' by Lizer. Lizer's acting credits include Cassie Phillips on 'Matlock', Diana Benedict on 'Sunday Dinner', and Chris Burgess on 'The Van Dyke Show'.
