Cady Groves, 'This Little Girl' singer and country-pop icon, dies at 30 due to natural causes
Oklahoma singer-songwriter Cady Groves has died at age of 30 on May 2, first revealed by her brother Cody Groves. The singer is best known for her single 'This Little Girl', released in 2012, as well as her most recent single 'Oil and Water' which released in 2017.
Cody shared the news on Twitter on May 3. "@cadygroves has left this world. Details are limited right now but family is trying to get them and will keep people updated. Rest In Peace little sis. Hope you’re reunited with @kellydgroves and Casey." Casey and Kelly are Cady's late brothers who died in 2007 and 2014 respectively, according to Spin.
Cody returned several hours later to reveal the cause of his sister's death which was determined to be a result of natural causes. In a statement posted on Twitter, Cody said, "I hate that I even have to do this, but apparently the world and internet is a cluster of twisted misinformation." He wrote, "In my original post I had stated we had no information to try and prevent that, but to expel rumors I will provide an update. The medical examiner has completed autopsy and there was no indication of foul play or self harm. Simply put, Cady Groves died of natural causes."
He continued by saying his sister "had some medical problems last fall" adding, "our best guess at this point until further testing is complete is that they had resurfaced." He further asked, "Please respect her name and family before sharing information that did not come directly from here."
Cody also revealed that Cady "was really looking forward to the next few months and release of her new album." He added, "Our latest in-depth conversation (since most were witty banter) was her sending me songs to critique and give feedback on."
Followers on Twitter shared their support for Cody, sending him and the family love and said they are praying for them. Cady's fans shared their love and appreciation for her, saying, "Cady changed my life growing up. My heart aches for you guys, sending all my love to you and your family" and "I absolutely adored Cady and her music helped me so much. I’m so sorry to hear about this." and "she was a bright light for everyone."
Cody later thanked those who are sharing thoughtful messages about his sister. He wrote, "Thank you to everyone who has shared kind words/stories about @cadygroves. She truly loved her fans and friends she made along the way."
