BTS to appear on Jimmy Fallon's show, fans hope K-pop group will perform on 'SNL' as well before album release
On February 6, the host of 'The Tonight Show', Jimmy Fallon announced on Twitter that K-pop group BTS would be returning to the late-night talk show after more than a year. Fallon asked fans to share questions for the global sensation using the hashtag #FallonAsksBTS.
Fallon announced that the episode will be a "special show" and that it will be "unlike any other 'Tonight Show'". The last time BTS appeared on 'The Tonight Show' was in September 2018.
Fans of the group have since been tweeting questions for BTS as well as speculating what could come in the special episode, the airing date of which is yet to be announced. One fan tweeted, "They will play a game with Jimmy. Take to the streets to surprise and interact with fans. Live performance from their new album MOTS:7 #FallonAsksBTS by ARMY for the special episode."
BTS' new album, 'Map of the Soul: 7' will be released on February 21, so it stands to reason that the special episode of 'The Tonight Show' might air closer to then. Fans are also wondering whether the group might perform on NBC's 'Saturday Night Live' which is filmed in the same location as 'The Tonight Show'.
While 'SNL' has announced that David Byrne and the Weeknd will be the musical guests on February 29 and March 7 respectively, fans wondered whether BTS might perform on the variety show in the weekend that the new album is released.
One fan wrote, "So @BTS_twt is gonna be on Jimmy Fallon, they’ll MAYBE go to the Oscars on Sunday, SNL is being shady and not posting the musical act for February 22nd and we’re already at 4M preorders... Armys are you ready?" Another user tweeted, "I'm hoping Fallon Takeover on Friday 21st and SNL the next night. NBC is now BTS for the weekend. Let's GO!"
Another fan tweeted, "so jimmy fallon tweeted about a bit announcement w/the 7 in his name...SNL announced feb lineup but left out feb 15 + 22...bts album drops feb 21...so my guess is bts will be in new york on @FallonTonight and @nbcsnl sometime between 2/15-2/22."
