BTS 'Butter' vs Olivia Rodrigo 'Good 4 U': Who will top Billboard Hot 100? ARMY slams 'unfair' Spotify filtering

For 'Butter', getting that Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 spot should have been 'smooth', yet BTS ARMY is not taking any chances due to Spotify removing 57 per cent streams from their filtered chart

BTS is aiming for yet another top spot on Billboard Hot 100 with 'Butter', the Grammy-nominated South Korean group's record-breaking English single track. The song is already breaking records, being the most viewed music video within 24 hours with a whopping 108.2M views on YouTube. At 11.04M, it also received the highest number of streams on day one on Spotify. As a result, 'Butter' definitely stands as a strong contender for Billboard Hot 100 number 1 position.

But here's why BTS ARMY is concerned and is appealing to the fandom for another 'Butter' lockdown streaming. ARMY is considering Olivia Rodrigo's 'Good 4 U' as BTS' biggest competition for the hallowed #1 spot on Billboard Hot 100 next week. Her track debuted at number one in Spotify US' filtered streaming chart and is this week's number one in Billboard Hot 100.

Will Spotify jeopardize'Butter' ranking?

For 'Butter', getting that Billboard Hot 100 number one spot should have been 'smooth', yet BTS ARMY is not taking any chances due to Spotify removing as much as 57 per cent streams from their filtered chart, making Rodrigo's 'Good 4 U' the number one track. With 11.042M first-day streams on the global Spotify chart, 'Butter' made new all-time record for the biggest track debut in the platform's history, crossing Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber's 'I Don't Care' which previously held the title on May 2019 with 10.977M opening-day streams. But BTS ARMY slammed Spotify after noticing the huge removal of stream numbers while their accumulated unfiltered global streams added up to over 20.9M, setting another record as the largest single-day stream of any song ever on Spotify.

A chart page predicted, "@Olivia_Rodrigo and @BTS_twt will be competing for the #1 spot on the Hot 100 next week. Both "Good 4 U" and "Butter" are going to have massive chart points, similar to "WAP" vs. "Dynamite."

'Good 4 U' vs 'Butter'

BTS previously acquired the top spot on the Hot 100 chart with their first English single 'Dynamite' and made history with 'Life Goes On' as the first Korean song to ever get that position. Jason Derulo's 'Savage Love' remix featuring BTS also snagged the number one position due to massive streams from the ARMY. With 'Good 4 U' vs 'Butter', ARMY is preparing for yet round of 'Butter' streams. An ARMY shared, "Good 4 u was number 1 at bbhot100 last night let's change this with butter stream harder army's put our anger and frustration in streaming that Susan and Daniel have to give up!"

'There has to be a limit to spotify's filtering'

BTS ARMY has also appealed for a thorough investigation on why 57 per cent of the streams of 'Butter' were removed in the filtered chart. One fan wrote, "@Spotify seems to be deliberately filtering streams of “butter” by BTS to affect charting. that’s 2 days in a row where unprecedented, massive amounts of streams have been filtered out, despite fans of BTS being deliberately strategic about how they stream for numbers to count."

Another fan noted, "ARMYs are the ones who goddamn TAUGHT fandoms how to stream. Every streaming guide that they have is OUR study, trial, fail, success in finding out how Spotify works… and you’re trying to tell me WE get such sick filtering? Every day updates being delayed?" One fan said, "I’m sorry but this whole Spotify thing is so unfair every single time we achieve something it’s just completely erased and we have to get it back only for it to be deleted again. Butter’s streams have barely gone up even though it’s been the biggest song for the past 4 days." Another outraged fan said, "I’ve been streaming Butter on Spotify since the release AND NOW YOURE TELLING ME THAT IM A BOT AND MY STREAMS DONT COUNT EVEN THO SPOTIFY KNOWS MY ADDRESS AND PAYMENT INFO ????? #InvestigateSpotify!" An ARMY wrote, "There has to be a limit to spotify's filtering. obviously the band which sells out stadiums upon stadiums will have such massive streams. with every comeback, more armys join in. we aren't bots ffs. there's no artist who has faced 40%-47% filtering rate. It's so fucking unfair."
