Gaon Music Chart has shared its monthly and weekly chart rankings on January 6, which includes an array of powerful South Korean groups such as BTS, TXT, NCT and more. See the rankings as well as certification achievements below. Please note, we're limiting this article to some of the most recognizable Gaon charts and achievements.

Gaon Charts

Monthly Album Chart

Last month, NCT debuted at No. 1 for the physical album weekly chart for 'Resonance Pt. 2', but have now also topped the monthly chart for December. IZ*ONE’s LP 'One-reeler / Act IV' followed at No. 2 on the monthly chart and Kim Ho Joong's 'The Classic Album I' and 'The Classic Album II' took both No. 3 and No. 4 positions respectively. Kai (of EXO) came in at No. 5 with his solo self-titled debut effort.

Weekly Album Chart

Moving on to the weekly version of the chart for the week of December 27 to January 2 and TXT took the crown at No. 1 for their ''minisode1: Blue Hour'. ENHYPEN’s 'Border: Day One' came in at No. 2 on the weekly chart and was followed by Song Ga In’s 'Dream' at No. 3. Kim Jaejoong (both solo artist and member of JYJ) rose to No. 4 for his album 'Ayo' while P1Harmony's 'DISHARMONY : STAND OUT' rounded out the top five.

Monthly Digital Chart

For last month's digital chart impact, rappers Mirani, Mirani, Munchman, Khundi Panda, and MUSHVENOM’s collaborated on 'VVS' (featuring JUSTHIS) which debuted at No. 1. BTS' biggest 2020 hit 'Dynamite' dropped down a notch to No. 2 after its extensive run on the charts. KyoungSeo’s 'Shiny Star (2020)' came in at No. 3. Jang Beom June’s hit 'Can’t Sleep' positioned at No. 4 and Lil Boi’s 'Tomorrow' (featuring Giriboy and BIG Naughty) slotted at No. 5.

Weekly Digital Chart + Streaming Chart

For both digital and streaming charts, rankings were exactly the same this week. The aforementioned collaborative song 'VVS' also took the No. 1 spot on both streaming and digital weekly charts. That's three Gaon Chart entries by Mirani, Mirani, Munchman, Khundi Panda, and MUSHVENOM mentioned so far, but there's more below.

The second-place ranking went to KyoungSeo’s 'Shiny Star (2020)', BTS’s 'Dynamite' came in at No. 3, Jang Beom June’s 'Can’t Sleep' at No. 4 and Lil Boi’s 'Tomorrow' at No. 5.

Monthly Streaming Chart

'VVS' also topped the streaming chart for December. BTS' 'Dynamite', this time around, took the No. 2 slot on the monthly streaming chart. Jang Beom June’s 'Can’t Sleep' hit No. 3, KyoungSeo’s 'Shiny Star (2020)' got No. 4 and Im Chang Jung’s 'Love Should Not Be Harsh on You' came in at No. 5.

Monthly Download Chart

Different artistes from the above impacted both the monthly and weekly download charts, barring Kai, KyoungSeo and IZ*ONE. Lim Young Woong landed at both No. 1 and No. 2  on the monthly digital download chart for songs 'Trust in Me' and 'HERO', respectively. Moving on to No. 3 and Kai's solo debut single 'Mmmh' took the spot, followed by IZ*ONE's 'Panorama at No. 4 and Lil Boi's 'Tomorrow' at No. 5.

Weekly Download Chart

Lim Young Woong achieved the exact same rankings on this week's download chart for both 'Trust in Me' and 'HERO' once again. Rain and Park Jin Young's new collab 'Switch to Me' debuted at No. 3, Huh Gak's 'How Did We' came in at No. 4 and KyoungSeo's 'Shiny Star (2020)' received the No. 5 slot.

We know Blinks must be wondering where Blackpink came in. The popular K-pop girl group topped both the weekly and monthly Social 2.0 chart by Gaon.

Certifications

Gaon has also honored BTS with an impressive certification recently. Taking into account music only released on or after January 2018 (based on a new system), Gaon Chart now certifies platinum to albums that reach 250,000 sales. Albums that hit a million copies sold receive a "million" certification. BTS achieved this twice when their latest record 'BE (Deluxe Edition)' received a double million certification after selling 2 million copies.

SuperM's debut studio album is also seeing massive success, and they've earned an official double-platinum certification, selling over 500,000 copies. MONSTA X's latest full-length 'Fatal Love' is also a strong contender, having sold 250,000 copies and earning platinum.

South Korean singer Ben received her platinum certification for '180 Degrees' but in the download category after it saw over 2.5 million downloads. For the streaming category, Gaho's 'Start' received platinum certification after surpassing 100 million streams.
