'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' Season 7 Finale Preview: How well will Amy handle maternity leave amid the 'Purge'?
As the day inches closer, fans are dying to know what Jake Peralta and Amy Santiago are going to name their baby. They can't, however, ever be as excited as Charles Boyle who pretty much has a list of names ready for the joyous addition to the Nine-Nine.
However, all of this couldn't have come at a worse time. It is Amy's last day of work before maternity leave and all of Brooklyn decides to go on a full-blown blackout. Jakes tries to find beauty in the pitch blackness of the night but other woes arise in Season 7 Episode 13: 'Lights Out' which is also the season finale for this year's run.
In a promotional clip for the episode, we see Captain Raymond Holt announcing Amy's onset of maternity leave. This brings to mind how Amy's FOMOOW is triggered at the slightest, but she seems to be handling her "fear of missing out on work" quite well.
Even when Scully suggests he too would try to take a maternity leave as he's not pushing a baby but a giant mass out of his lower abdomen soon, Amy is composed.
Later in the day, as teased in a clip exclusively shared by TV Line, Amy and her husband, Jake, can be seen discussing something along the lines of baby names and of course Charles has to butt in with his expert suggestions.
But here's the catch: he doesn't care what Jake and Amy are naming their boy; he has a list of names that the boy could call him — including "Uncle Chuck? Uncky C? Ooh! Chi Chi so he says it early!"
While Jake and Amy are yet to even have that conversation, Charles is already discussing what the baby should call Charles' dad of all people. And before Amy could lose it amid all that pressure, the power goes out suddenly.
Jake, Amy, Charles and Rosa Diaz walk up to the little terrace type balcony to overlook Brooklyn in all of its calm and quiet glory amid the darkness when Jake has an epiphany about beauty in the mundane darkness.
That is shortlived however, as bullet sounds soon go off and people's screams drift in — the city of New York is on the brink of a full-blown 'Purge' breaking out and the squad has to get back into action.
We aren't sure if Amy jumps in on the game or manages to hide her FOMOOW well once again; but we do know that Hitchcock and Scully run around with flashlights on headbands acting like a bunch of busy, crime-solving maestros, but really, they just want to gather all their food first.
And if Amy can maintain her calm at that, knowing full well the kind of weirdos she is tasking everything with while she takes time off, we have a feeling she will handle maternity leave quite well.
