Spoilers for 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' Season 7 Episode 7 'Ding Dong'

After an entire season and a half of Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) and Amy Santiago (Melissa Fumero) running in circles, trying to decide whether they are ready to have a baby, or still should take time out because of the universe's not-so-subtle hints, it's finally happening. Or is it? We are just as confused as the fans.

'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' Season 7 Episode 7 'Ding-Dong' had been teased with a Charles-Terry boxing fight to be Jake's choice as a plus one at an exclusive event. Along with that, NBC had teased that Captain Raymond Holt (Andre Braugher) would be dealing with a personal loss in this episode, which turned out to be the death of Holt's arch-nemesis Captain Madeline Wunch (Kyra Segewick).

But before fans could wrap their heads around whether Wunch is really dead, or whether killing off one of the most entertaining recurring characters was the way to go, the show threw a bigger surprise our way right at the very end, by Amy revealing to Jake that her erratic moodiness couldn't have been just aa side effect of hormone treatment. She pulled out a pregnancy test that showed positive and to the entire fandom's delight confirmed that there is a Peraltiago baby on the way.

Calls for a party, right? But wait, there's more. Right after Jake and Amy hug it out upon revealing the big news, the scene switches to Charles Boyle (Joe Lo Truglio) waking up from his sleep with a jolt, leading to the biggest confusion the fandom has ever been encompassed in: Are Jake and Amy really having a baby or did Charles just dream it? Knowing Charles, Jake's BFF has a way of sensing the big milestones through his own signature premonitions and considering he has been rooting for Peraltiago since they were even a thing, it's also possible that Charles saw the same happening in his dream while it was taking place in real-time. Just Charles things, you know.

Taking their confusion and ecstatic joy to Twitter, fans came out in unison to talk about how monumental the ending was. "I happy-cried! I've never been so happy for people who aren't real," tweeted a fan, while another wrote: "Peraltiago keeps giving and giving to me without ever disappointing and that's why they're my favorite ship ever."

For a lot of other fans, Charles waking up right after Amy reveals her pregnancy was also a little confusing. "IS IT REAL?? IS IT REAL????? IT STOPPED RECORDING WHEN CHARLES WOKE UP AND I AM VERY CONFUSED," wrote a fan, going full caps to voice their need to know if it's happening or not.

Our money is on all of this being very, very real, and while much like fans, we won't be able to shut up about it, it's also worth noting how terribly Wunch will be missed. In the words of a fan summing it all up, "Honestly that entire episode was so delightful and I was so sad about Wuntch because who will bring out the petty side of Holt now?? But nothing matters now because that ending was just pure happiness!"

'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' Season 7 airs on Thursdays at 8:30 pm on NBC.
