Brittany Murphy's half-brother claims she was murdered because of her debt-ridden husband 10 years after her mysterious death

Ten years after her death, actress Brittany Murphy's half-brother Tony Bertolotti has broken his silence regarding how he thinks she was killed. While Murphy's death at the age of 32 on December 29, 2009, at her Beverly Hills mansion had raised many questions, there has been no conclusive evidence to prove that her death was not natural. However, Berotti who has explored many conspiracy theories, is convinced that his sister was murdered.

Bertolotti believes that his sister was killed because of her debt-ridden British screenwriter husband Simon Monjack and his shady business deals. Monjack, a virtually unknown screenwriter, had also died under similar circumstances as Murphy in the same home, just five months later. The Los Angeles coroner Ed Winter ruled the deaths were due to pneumonia, anemia and drug intoxication after dozens of prescription pills were found in their systems. Reportedly, Murphy's mother Sharon was living in the same house as the couple and was present during both deaths.

"If you look at it from a distance, it's like here's this young lady, a fairly healthy girl, she's home with her supposed husband and mother, and she died. How absurd is it? It's only in Hollywood that it's considered another day at the zoo. No one takes her to a hospital, which is just four miles away," Bertolotti is quoted as saying by the Daily Mail, adding, "I spent years looking at this, suppressing my own anger. I think Brittany was taken out. Who killed Brittany? She didn't die of natural causes."

Bertolotti, who shares a father with Murphy, says that their father Angelo who died at the age of 92, was also looking into the truth about his sister's death in his latter years, but died before he could find the answers for which he was looking.

"My father was up to it like a hound dog, but then got sick and had a stroke. Til his dying day he was obsessed with finding out what happened. He went up to a bunch of these people, but no one would talk to him. We couldn't find out anything. What's it all tell you? The thing is locked down," he said, adding that someday the truth would come out, but seeing as he is 70 and live in Florida, he is probably not going to be able to solve the mystery.
