Britney Spears upsets Beyhive by trying to take Beyonce's 'Queen B' crown, fans remind her: 'It's Britney b***h'
Britney Spears found herself under attack from the Beyhive after she shared a post about being 'Queen B'.
On Wednesday, June 24, Britney shared an image of a golden bee wearing a golden crown along with the caption, "To all my fans who call me Queen [crown] B …. I believe this would be more accurate," followed by a winking emoji and several bee emojis. While it isn't entirely clear if Britney was implying she was the sole Queen Bee or not, Beyoncé's fandom has decided this was a personal attack and have descended on Britney in true Beyhive fashion.
"Why Britney Spears trying to claim the title “Queen B”?" asked one bemused Twitter user, "The only person with the title Queen B is Beyoncé herself, some ppl r delusional," declared one Beyoncé fan, and "Why the f*ck is Britney Spears trying to be relevant again? Claiming herself as the title “Queen B” like a b*tch. And wtf listens to her nowadays, like she’s not even at the same level as Beyoncé," stated another evidently disgruntled member of the Beyhive.
Others were more confused about Britney's claim, stating, "Lol she said to all my fans that call me “Queen B” whennnnnn ? Lol I adore her but I ain’t NEVER HEARD NONE OF HER FANS CALL HER THAT lol," as well as, "Ain't nobody ever called Brittany Spears no damn Queen B." But Britney's fans were quick to point out, "I’ve called Britney Queen B actually. I like Britney sorry-" in addition to sharing a screenshot of the 'Queen B' Wikipedia page which clearly lists Britney as one of the people to hold the title.
Some Britney fans clearly agreed with the Beyhive, however, stating, "Ok Britney girl I LOVE LOVE LOVE u but ur “it’s Britney b*tch” and Beyoncé is “queen bey” ur both iconic and legends but Beyoncé is queen B," while many others thought Britney's post was being blown out of proportion, stating, "Nobody is saying Britney is the Queen B, it’s just a nickname, so pressed!"
Amidst the name-calling and debates about which of the two divas actually owns the title, however, some have made a different argument entirely: "No the real Queen B is @LilKim The original Queen B get ur Facts straight." As more users continued to share tweets to the tune of "It isn’t even bey’s title it was for lil kim they are so embarrassing PLS," some further clarified by stating, "Lil Kim was queen Bee / Beyoncé = Queen Bey." One user shared, "If we're honest Lil Kim gave herself the title of Queen B, Beyoncé was given the title of Queen B(ey) and Britney was great," before adding, "The early parts of her career can't be discredited but out of all three there's only one who can literally announce a stadium tour & sell it out right now!" And as more people argued for Lil Kim's Queen B title, another contender was thrown into the ring: "So we just gonna forget the fact that Barbra Streisand had a whole song in 1976 called the QUEEN B?" And soon, more women in music found themselves in the running for the title.
One user made a final argument, stating, "I love Britney, and she's Queen in her own right. But there are only two Queen B's/Bees. The original, Lil Kim, And Beyonce lol," while others decided there was enough room for them all to be queens, sharing, "In all honesty, I’m fine with calling both Britney Spears and Beyonce, Queen B - long live my pop queens" as well as "Britney Jean can also be Queen B. There’s room for more than one in the Queendom." Others thought the argument was pointless, stating, "Honestly, most of the BeyHive don’t care. She can call herself Queen B, Queen Elizabeth II, Queen Amidala, for all we care. There are more worthy things to fight for," along with a video referencing the Black Lives Matter protests.
