In 2020, the Netflix series ‘Bridgerton’ took everyone by storm and gave the streaming platform its most successful project. At the time of its premiere, it became the most-watched series with a viewership of 82 million households and reached number one in 76 countries. So, it didn’t come as a shock to anyone when the streaming platform renewed the series for a second season and now that the second edition has finally hit Netflix, fans are eager to know if the makers can enthrall once again with engaging content.

'Bridgerton' Season 2 Episode 3: Anthony's tragic past reveals why he lost faith in love

If you are a fan of ‘Bridgerton’, you know how fast-paced things were in Season 1, but makers have approached this season quite differently in two ways. First, the stories take time to develop, and second, there are no “unnecessary” sex scenes in the latest edition. The best part of this season is that it is not just about the love story of its two lead characters, it is also about how much these families love each other. There are some nerve-wracking scenes when viewers get to know how Edmund Bridgerton (Anthony’s father) died and how it changed Anthony as a person. His father’s death was the main reason why he lost his faith in love because he couldn’t be the cause of pain for someone.

After his father’s death, he was never the same and you’ll get to see as the season progresses.

Meanwhile, another storyline that is really intriguing happens between Kate and her sister Edwina. The love-hate relationship between them is one of the most amazingly written storylines in this season.

As far as acting is concerned, Simone Ashley and Jonathan Bailey are a treat to watch. Their chemistry is a treat to watch and whenever they are on the screen, you know something special is going to happen. Individually, both actors have done stupendous work. Simone Ashley is undoubtedly the next big thing to watch out for. She is fierce as Kate and her expressions are enough to let everyone know how amazing she is. Also, she is really gorgeous.

However, the breakout star of the series is Charithra Chandran, who plays Edwina Sharma. At first, you’ll find her as an obedient child who’s doing everything that her sister wants. But in the second part of the series, viewers will see her true character and how strong-headed she is. Chandran has played the role with elegance and shows her range when she is given the task to show her true self.

Ruth Gemmell gets to shine a lot more this time around as Violet, the Bridgerton family matriarch, and you can feel the trauma she has gone through after his husband’s death. Her scenes with Bailey are emotional and will force you to have a box of tissues around you.

Claudia Jessie (Eloise Bridgerton) and Nicola Coughlan (Penelope Featherington) are splendid as always. Meanwhile, Adjoa Andoh (Lady Danbury), Golda Rosheuvel (Queen Charlotte), and Shelly Conn (Mary Sharma) are forces to be reckoned with. Luke Newton and Luke Thompson are also brilliant in their respective roles.

With its second season, ‘Bridgerton’ proves that it doesn’t need sex scenes to be successful and makes everyone realize that the show is much more than just about sex. The second installment also proves that the show was not just a one-hit wonder. It is filled with sizzling romantic and hard-hitting emotional sequences that take the show to a whole new level. Despite being less steamy, there’s a lot to cherish for this season. Great writing, smoldering romance, beautiful costumes, and power-packed performances are some of the reasons that you’ll fall in love with the series.

It is undoubtedly better than its predecessor and a must-watch.
