Brian Williams trolls Trump and Kevin McCarthy with ‘exclusive video’ of Mar-a-Lago meeting: 'You complete me'
MSNBC’s Brian Williams trolled former president Donald Trump and his meeting with house minority leader Kevin McCarthy in a very hilarious way. Trump met McCarthy at his Palm Beach’s Mar-a-Lago resort on Thursday, January 28 to discuss their next political steps including winning the Congress for GOP in 2022. McCarthy had earlier criticized the Republican for allegedly inciting the January 6 Capitol building riots. While reporting on the meeting, Williams said to his on-air guests -- comedian Baratunde Thurston and conservative pundit Bill Kristol -- that they will see “what I’m told is the first exclusive video out of this meeting today between McCarthy and Trump.” “We’ll watch it and react on the other side,” he added.
But what followed after that was unexpected as ‘The 11th Hour’ host played a scene from the 1996 movie ‘Jerry Maguire’ where Tom Cruise’s character says to Renée Zellweger’s, “You complete me.” “Obviously we have rolled the wrong clip,” the 61-year-old journalist said with a straight face while Thurston and Kristol laughed. Williams then questioned Thurston about the intentions of McCarthy as he said he had gone “down to kiss the ring, and God knows what else, meeting with the deposed former president in his underdecorated Florida home.” “Is that because this is the only game they have, they badly need his supporters and the thing they fear the most is having his supporters turn against them?” he added, to which the comedian responded, “Brian, I’m still recovering from the video clip. Thank you and I’m mad at you right now for making me break so much.”
The clip soon went viral on the internet with a number of people commenting on the hilarious moment. One such user said, “Simply awesome, was miles away from expecting this! PS: Hope no one gets in too much trouble for it, be kind, who ever did it gave us all a good laugh we all needed ;c).” The second user wrote, “I was multi-tasking when it aired and did a double-take. Had to rewind to understand what was going on, and couldn't stop laughing. Had to grab it and share. :-)”. The third user commented, “I love how he does things like that with a straight face!” “So, so good. If they didn’t mean for it to be there, they EASILY could cut away,” the fourth user remarked.

“And he doesn’t even crack a smile. Best straight man ever!” the fifth user noted and the sixth one added: “Did anyone else laugh until they cried?” However, not everyone was happy with Williams's humor as one such person tweeted, “I understand the aspects of maintaining professional responsibility but why does a mistake or error have to be resolved or dealt with like what’s coming for someone is the guillotine? Was Brian’s ego REALLY that mortified? F.HIM. WHAT EVER!” Another one said, “Yes, @BWilliams you need to go for failing to double check before setting it up. The others that failed should go as well. The leading by example starts at the top.” While the third one added, “The propaganda never ends on MSNBC.”
