QUINCY, MASSACHUSETTS: The deranged Massachusetts killer Brian Walshe was indicted for the brutal murder of his missing wife Ana, prosecutors said. Walshe was indicted for first-degree murder, obstruction of justice, and other charges by a Norfolk County grand jury, according to reports.

Walshe was already under custody as he was charged with misleading the investigation to find his wife who went missing on January 1, 2023. She reportedly lived with Walshe and three young children at the time. Now it seems to be the end of Walshe as a conviction of murder in the first degree in the state carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Why did the grand jury indict Brian Walshe?

Norfolk County grand jury indicted the 48-year-old native of Cohasset, for the murder of his wife, for misleading a police investigation/obstruction of justice, and for the improper conveyance of a human body. "Brian Walshe entered a plea of not guilty to the charge of murder at his Quincy District Court arraignment in January," according to WCVB. "This indictment moves the case to the Norfolk Superior Court, where it will be arraigned anew in the coming weeks. That date has not yet been set."

Initially, Walshe pleaded not guilty in Quincy District Court when he was charged with murder during a January arraignment, the district attorney’s office said, as per the Boston Herald.

How did Brian Walshe nail his crime?

Authorities believe that Walshe killed and dismembered her in their basement. He then bagged up her remains that were tossed in a dumpster before it was incinerated by trash services. He was charged with murder around mid-January. It is reported that following Ana's disappearance, Walshe allegedly asked his landlord if he had any surveillance cameras set up. He also told the landlord that Ana was missing and asked him whether he had seen her.

Walshe's disturbing online searches

According to the prosecutors, Walshe looked up online how to cut up and dispose of a body on January 1 and the following days. He allegedly searched online for “how to dispose of a 115-pound woman’s body".

Investigators found surveillance video of a man that looked like Walshe dumping what seemed to be heavy trash bags in a dumpster at an apartment complex in a town near Cohasset. Police tried to find those bags but prosecutors said that they were already taken to an incinerator. He previously told police he last saw his wife alive in the early hours of New Year’s Day when he claimed she took off for a “work emergency.”

Ana was reported missing on January 4 by her employer based in DC where she often commuted during the week for work. Although her body has never been recovered, personal items and DNA evidence located at a transfer station in Peabody indicate Brian butchered his wife's body, investigators said.
