SEATTLE, WASHINGTON: One Seattle cop was filmed rolling his bicycle, over a man’s helmeted head as he lay down on the street during the violent Black Lives Matter protests. The protest sparked on Wednesday, September 23, after a grand jury decided not to charge any officer involved in the killing of 26-year old Breonna Taylor. Taylor was a Black medical worker who was shot dead by Louisville police officers in presence of his boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, on March 13, 2020, during a botched raid on her apartment.

According to the official statement released by the Seattle police department, "During the demonstration that occurred last night, the Seattle Police Department was notified of an incident where, on video, it appears an SPD officer walked the wheels of his bicycle over an individual lying in the street. Immediately after being made aware of this incident, SPD activated the Force Investigation Team (FIT) to document and investigate the use of force – as required by policy  — and alerted the Office of Police Accountability (OPA), which also responded to the scene. OPA has opened an investigation into the incident. The officer has been placed on administrative leave.  Following the request from the OPA, the SPD has referred the incident to the King County Sheriff’s Office for a potential criminal investigation."

In the shocking video, a group of officers on bicycles can be seen moving towards the crowd of protesters,  when one of the cops, slowly rolls his bike over the head of a man who had fallen on the ground. It was unclear if the protester was injured because he was wearing a helmet and the cop was pushing the bike by its handlebars, not riding it.

As soon as the horrific video went viral on the Internet, people started questioning the police department, as one Internet user shared the video of the incident and wrote, "Seattle, Washington: Cop rides his bicycle directly over the top of an injured man’s head. Trump’s America..." while another one said, "A protester in Seattle was laying on the ground. It is unclear whether they were injured or if this was an act of defiance. In either scenario, it's barbaric for the cop to ride his bike over the person's fucking head. Our police department is horrific, this shit is typical here."

While one Seattle resident said, "I live near the former CHOP protest zone in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood. SPD bike cops used to be officer friendlies, riding in quiet 2-cop patrols. Now they routinely roam the streets in thuggish gangs of 20+ in "show of force" rides." While another one shared the video and said, "The police at the #seattleprotests just ran over an injured mans head with their bikes. @SeattlePD is this how you train your officers?"

Lawyer Ben Crump shared the video of the incident and said, "This Seattle cop intentionally pushed his bicycle tires over a man's HEAD at yesterday's Breonna Taylor protest in Seattle... Then tried to ARREST him! More acts of excessive force and brutality from those who should be focused on protecting our citizens!" While one netizen wrote, "The Seattle Police Department is aware of a video circulating on the internet that apparently shows an SPD bike officer’s bike rolling over the head of an individual laying in the street" Poor cops being dragged along by their murderous bicycles!"
