Video shows thieves struggle with staff and customers in Louis Vuitton store as mall cops look on
Bold thieves were caught on camera stealing high-end purses from a Louis Vuitton store in Westchester, New York. The video emerged on the internet and soon went viral after it was uploaded on TikTok by user mcloud.9 on Friday, February 4. The video caught the attention of netizens, especially those who live near Westchester, as they're all worried about how bold the burglars were.
In the video, two men were seen shoplifting expensive Louis Vuitton bags while employees and possibly common people were trying to stop them.
Initially, one suspect slipped away easily while another was on the verge of getting caught. But finally, he also managed to flee with the stolen purses right past the security guard. Yes! The mall security guards were sitting back and watching while the pandemonium was unfolding at the Louis Vuitton store; this shocked the netizens and made it to the headlines.
One representative for the Westchester mall said, “The crime depicted in this video is unacceptable and we are fully cooperating with the White Plains Police Department in their investigation.” They also added, "We have taken a number of additional steps to further enhance the security program at The Westchester, including adding White Plains police officers to patrol the property, increasing additional private security patrol, deploying specially trained K-9 patrols, among other measures." This act has caused netizens to throw shade on NYPD for not being active and giving proper security to commercial spots.

Moreover, this is the second time in recent weeks that burglars have targeted high-end businesses at the mall just north of New York City. According to another video released on Twitter by former Westchester County executive Rob Astorino as a reply to the Louis Vuitton incident, the mall was also the scene of another theft at Burberry.
In the video he posted, two males were seen rushing out of the Burberry store with armfuls of costly items. He also tweeted, "Same @TheWestchester mall, different day, different men. This time @Burberry was hit. Crime doesn’t just happen ‘in the city’ or ‘somewhere else.’ It’s getting worse everywhere in NY and everyone is affected when criminals are emboldened by soft-on-crime laws."

Currently, both the thefts are being investigated, but so far no arrests have been made. This act has received a handful of tweets from various people around the globe who’ve shown their astonishment at the boldness of the thefts. Additionally, as the suspects seem to look Black, racist comments have also started flooding Twitter. One tweet says, “Blacks…..big surprise” and another indirectly points the same by stating, “Ship this animals back to their home country.”
