Video of man getting slammed IN THE FACE after woman lands on it during weightlifting stunt goes viral
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: A viral TikTok video which has now been deleted, showed a botched weightlifting stunt by fitness influencer Bradley Martyn who eventually ended up with 10 stitches in his mouth. The video clocked 17.2 million views on TikTok before it became unavailable to view but the same video was later uploaded separately on YouTube with the title, 'I BROKE MY FACE...', which is still available on the platform for the public to see. It shows Martyn lying on a piece of gym equipment while holding onto a high-density rubber weight known as a bumper plate.
Martyn then attempted to lift up his female gym partner who climbed on top of the weight. Unfortunately, she fell on top of him, kicking him in the face in the process. Martyn posted the video to his TikTok account with the caption, "POV: DROPPING UR PHONE ON YOUR FACE," on September 22. Martyn is famous for making extreme videos involving his different stunts and workouts including a tug-of-war battle with a tiger and lifting and sparring with an animal carcass.

How a dangerous TikTok trend may have led to a 12-year-old’s death in a car crash
Defending his thought process before the painful failed attempt on YouTube, Martyn said, “I tried to lift a girl. Now, I’ve done this before where a girl sat down on a plate and I pressed her. But, someone was like, ‘Why don’t you have her stand up?’ and I was like yeah, that’s cool, that’s easy.” He showed himself attempting the same stunt, in a follow-up TikTok video, this time successfully lifting a woman several times without her losing her balance. "This is what I was expecting. Two things I did wrong here. Have her spin around and use a bumper plate", Martyn wrote in the video's caption.
The trainer explained that using a bumper plate was also a “mistake” because they’re harder to balance on. He said he had to wait four hours at a local emergency room to get "10 stitches" inside his mouth after the stunt. Apparently he is not the only one who got injured in an attempt to make such a viral clip. Videos tagged on TikTok as "injury while lifting weights" have received over 600 million views. Doctors and medical experts have previously advised people not to take part in such online fitness trends which they say are ineffective or dangerous, such as a viral abdominal weight loss dance, putting garlic cloves in nostrils as a decongestant, and exposing genitals to the sun to "increase vibrations."
It is unclear however, why Martyn's original video is not available on TikTok anymore. One of the reasons may be the social media platform sometimes adds content warnings to videos to highlight that the behavior depicted carries risk, or deletes them from the platform entirely. Besides TikTok and YouTube, he is also on Instagram, where he boasts more than 4 million followers. He posts fitness-related content on the platform. He also hosts a podcast titled 'Bradly Martyn's Raw Talk', which features Martyn talking about a variety of topics.
