#BoycottSephora: MAGA supporters cancel beauty retailer after they cut ties with pro-Trump blogger Amanda Ensing
Cancel culture can swing both ways and no one is understanding that better than Sephora, a French multinational retailer of personal care and beauty products that is quite popular in the United States. While just days ago it was facing backlash from the liberals for giving a platform to a beauty blogger and pro-Trump YouTube personality, Amanda Ensing, it is presently being boycotted on Twitter by conservatives and MAGA-supporters for cutting ties with Ensing after she was accused of supporting the Jan. 6 insurrection at the Capitol.
After Sephora replied to a customer, explaining that its decision to cut ties with Ensing was made based on "concerning behavior by Ms. Ensing on her social platforms including making light of the violence and tragic loss of life at our nation’s Capitol last month," the beauty blogger took to social media to slam the company. She accused Sephora of lying in their prepared statement while responding to queries in their customer care chat regarding their decision to terminate their contract with her.
"@Sephora is even typing their lies into chats. I’m assuming we have made such an impact, you are attempting to defame me further. What about influencers who supported rioting, looting, & burning cities? We’ll wait. We all see right through what you’re trying to do. Thank you to the lovely follower who sent me this. As always, #boycottsephora," she wrote in a tweet on Tuesday, February 2. On Sunday, January 31, Ensing tweeted, "#BoycottSephora for saying conservatives, like myself, don’t align with @Sephora 'values around inclusivity." She also took to Instagram to post a reaction video during which she slammed Sephora, saying what they did to her was "not OK." "I have never done anything that is violent," she said. "I feel as if I was baited into signing this agreement on false hope."

#BoycottSephora for saying conservatives, like myself, don’t align with @Sephora “values around inclusivity” 👎🏽 My statement here: https://t.co/5up60UGCy3 pic.twitter.com/uG3pOyTiTI

However, Sephora has added in a statement that Ensing's political views did not play a role in their decision. "We respect individual perspectives and freedom of expression but do reserve the right to end any partnership that does not meet our brand standards," they said. Nevertheless, the hashtag "Boycott Sephora" started trending yet again on Twitter but this time, it was the conservatives who were calling for the ban as they stood in solidarity with Ensing. "I’ve been a rouge member at @Sephora for years but I sadly just learned they don’t have the same values around inclusivity as I do. Happy to take my business elsewhere! #BoycottSephora," one of them wrote.
Another commented, "@Sephora keep digging your grave, bro. #BoycottSephora". A third said, "@AmandaEnsing I support you! I literally just shopped at @sephora this week.. several hundred dollars. LAST time I’ll spend a dime there. I don’t support a cancel culture. #BoycottSephora." One more quipped, "Okay so I’m never shopping at Sephora again. That’s settled. #boycottsephora." The next noted, "So now @sephora is playing politics? Bye Bye! I’m standing with @AmandaEnsing #BoycottSephora."
A commenter tweeted, "I was just going to place a big order... not anymore! I spend thousands there, guess I’ll be losing my vip status @Sephora
#BoycottSephora." Another said, "@Sephora I find it sickening to live in the US & seeing ppl 'cancelled' because of political views. You should be able to have different viewpoints & still coexist it’s called FREEDOM & by making this stance you are not being 'inclusive' or 'woke' just ignorant & shameful." One more added, "Putting on makeup might make you pretty on the outside, but not the inside. #BoycottSephora"
The next said, "#BoycottSephora for banning @AmandaEnsingfor being a conservative woman. No more conservatives buying anything in that store! Till TODAY, I WAS a @Sephora client. I am a respetuous conservative woman. I respect LGTBQ+ community and also respect different ways of thinking than mine but I don't like stores that segregate a group of people for thinking different. No more Sephora for me or anybody in my family #BoycottSephora."

We previously reported Ensing shared beauty content, along with some posts regarding standard conservative views, such as her support for the Second Amendment. In fact, after the Capitol Hill riots, Ensing had shared a tweet, "There’s not enough popcorn in the world for what’s about to happen," which attracted much flak from the internet as people believed she was being insensitive. She further tweeted, "The left: I hate it here. America is embarrassing. Only we can riot & loot. Defund the police. Just do what the government tells you & don’t ask questions. The right: Let’s fight for freedom. We love the USA. Defend the Constitution. We support our Military & Law enforcement." On January 6, she had even posted about the people gathering at the Capitol and wrote, "Still think Biden won?"
