'Grow a heart': Comedian Bonnie McFarlane slammed for calling #FreeBritney a 'mistake'
Comedian Bonnie McFarlane found herself under fire as she opined on Twitter that the #FreeBritney movement might have been a mistake. Twitter users were enraged as McFarlane seemed to suggest that the 'Toxic' singer should still be under a conservatorship.
The 48-year-old former 'Last Comic Standing' star tweeted, "that free britney thing might’ve been a mistake." While some users suggested that since McFarlane is a comedian, the statement should be taken as a joke, most others were enraged and asked McFarlane to "grow a heart".

The how and why of the comedian's train of thought are yet to be figured out but her tweet came after the pop star shared photos and videos from her recent vacation with her fiance Sam Asghari. Britney's 14-year conservatorship finally came to an end in November 2021.
Under her tweet, a user said, "It’s wild to me that in 2022 people still joke about forced sterilizations, ethnic cleansing and genocide. Way to keep the trend going, Bonnie."

One user expressed her opinion while giving a suggestion, "This tweet was a mistake. for you to wish her trauma and abuse on her like that by implying she should still be in the cship is so disingenuous. She was human trafficked. Are you okay with that?! Have some respect. Grow a heart, read a book and hug a tree."

Simon Curtis said, "one of the most horrific, egregious cases of human trafficking, replete with forced lithium, blood-letting, imprisonment, $600 million stolen, and forced sterilization… In all seriousness what the fuck is wrong with you? Other than a glaring lack of talent."

Responding to the virtual backlash, McFarlane posted a follow-up tweet saying, "I’m a comedian but you’re right"
The comedian's manager is yet to make a comment on the frenzy. On the other hand, Britney has given complete credit to the #FreeBritney movement for encouraging her to speak out against the situation.
