'Doctor' Blue Ivy asked to take over Trump's coronavirus briefings after her cute handwashing PSA goes viral
Jay Z and Beyonce's 8-year-old daughter started trending on Twitter after she cutely demonstrated in an Instagram video how handwashing can keep people from contracting the novel coronavirus.
Instead of using divisive politics or complicated advise from top health experts, Blue Ivy relied on a simple and fun scienctific experiment to put her point across in the informative PSA that was upoaded by her grandmother Tina Knowles-Lawson's social media page.
"I have this little DIY experiment that you can do at home, too," Blue Ivy explained at the start of the video, which took a top-down view, letting the celebrity kid avoid getting her face on camera as she proceeded with the experiment. Only a marble counter top - on which rested a small bowl of liquid soap, a saucer full of pepper and water and a pepper grinder - and her hands were visible in the video.
"I have a mixture of a lot of different types of soap inside of this," she said pointing to one small container. "And this is the coronavirus, or any virus-- it’s actually just pepper," she continued, directing at the saucer.
In the classic experiment, she demonstrated how when she dipped her soap-coated finger into the pepper-water mixture, the pepper was repelled to the sides of the saucer. It was not so much the experiment itself, but her matter-of-fact narrating that won the hearts of her fans.
"If you wash your hands, your hands will stay clean," Blue Ivy explained. "But if you keep your hands dirty, you might get sick."
Soon after her PSA was uploaded, people on Twitter began requesting that the daily COVID-19 press briefings at the White House be conducted by Blue Ivy instead of President Donald Trump. "I need daily briefings from Blue Ivy Carter. TYSM" one user tweeted, while another said, "Dr. Blue Ivy Carter ended Dr. Phil and Dr. Oz in less than two minutes."
A third wrote: "Blue Ivy is doing more than the world leaders - I am speechless"
Here are a few other tweets:
"I can’t believe Blue Ivy had to waste her time to get on the internet to tell y’all to wash your dirty hands"
"If Blue Ivy doesn’t inspire you to wash your hands correctly, then no one can."
"Have we seen this before? Yes.. Am I gonna act like it’s a brand new concept because it was done by THEE Blue Ivy? Hell yes"
The PSA came hours after Beyonce advocated for communities most vulnerable to the deadly virus during Sunday's 'One World: Together at Home' concert special.
"Black Americans belong to these parts of the work force that don't have the luxury of working from home. And African-American communities at large have been severely affected in this cries. Those with pre-existing conditions are at higher risk. "This virus is killing black people at an alarmingly high rate in America. In a recent report from my home city of Houston, Texas, it showed that COVID-19 deaths within Houston city limits 57 percent of fatal cases are African-Americans," she said, E! News reported.
She added: "Please protect yourselves. We are one family and we need you. We need your voices, your abilities and your strength all over this world. I know it's very hard, but please be patient, stay encouraged, keep the faith, stay positive and continue to pray for our heroes. Good night and God bless you."
