Season 1 of ‘Black Summer’ was undoubtedly one of the best shows of 2019 and had everyone at the edge of their seats. The first season tells the story of Rose (Jaime King) who has been separated from her daughter Anna (Zoe Marlett). Six weeks after the zombie apocalypse, Rose embarked on a harrowing journey to find her.

In the process, she met a group of refugees in North America and must brave a hostile new world and make brutal decisions during the most deadly summer of a deadly apocalypse. The entire season was visually stunning and had a good story. In the end, we saw Rose finally reuniting with his daughter while most of the people roam on the streets like zombies.

‘Black Summer’ Season 1 ending

During the final moments of the season, we see the Army being overrun by the undead. The army was never ready to fight zombies, so even with their training, nothing would have prepared them for that. They easily outnumbered the army and turned them into zombies as well.

As far as Anna is concerned, she reached the stadium with a group of people who safely arrived at the stadium. We believe that area was not overrun by the undead by that time and she and some others were able to find shelter when the army was fighting the zombies. Most importantly, when she reunited with her mother, she was seen with another survivor who must have saved her from the wrath of the zombies.

But still, the burning question is that why did the evacuation never took place? One of the reasons that evacuation could not happen was because all the soldiers and civilians in that area were already infected and turned into zombies. The army would have blacklisted the site and canceled any evacuations that were planned. However, they could have called for an airstrike in the targeted area.

The evacuation might have caused more chaos and the people who survived the zombies could also have become their prey.

The show is in the same universe as ‘Z-Nation’. In ‘Z-Nation’, ‘Black Summer’ is known for the lack of food, causing mass starvation adding to the ever-growing undead population. It seems Season 2 will be deadlier than ever and Rose and the gang have to think of new ways to adapt and survive the zombie apocalypse.

‘Black Summer’ Season 2 will premiere exclusively on Thursday, June 17, at 3 am ET.
