'Black Lightning' Season 3 Episode 14 not airing today, repeat of 'Earth Crisis' to air instead

The last episode of 'Black Lightning ' closed the Book of Markovia and it would appear that Team Black Lightning needs a week to recover. Episode 14 of this season, which will be the opening chapter of the Book of War, will not be airing tonight. Instead, The CW will air a repeat of the 'Black Lightning' soft crossover episode to 'Crisis on Infinite Earths' — 'Earth Crisis.'

The last episode saw the show raise stakes in a big way. It introduced Gravedigger (Wayne Brady), who made quite a big impact in his first episode. In addition, all of the various metas allied with Black Lightning (Cress Williams) were brought together as one big team of outsiders (no, not THOSE Outsiders...yet) bringing the fight directly to the Markovians. The team pitched a battle on Markovian soil in order to rescue a captured Lynn Stewart (Christine Adams), and are returning hurt, but more or less in one piece, having done what they came to do.

The Markovians aren't the kind to take things lightly, however, and the name of the next Book in this season is telling. It's time for the people of Freeland to prepare for all-out war. And the makers of the show apparently need an extra week to pay for it.

Jennifer Pierce (China Anne McClain) might have an especially big role to play in this war, given that with her powers ramping up this season, she might just be the most outright powerful metahuman in Freeland. The episode that The CW chose to repeat was less important to the Crisis, but a big part of what changed Jen's mind about helping the ASA and reconfiguring her purpose in life. Jen's emerging powers have been a big thing to watch out for, and this episode is a great reminder of why.

The next episode, 'The Book of War: Chapter One: Homecoming', will air on February 24 on The CW.
