'Black Lightning' Season 3 Episode 7: Lynn's new A.S.A clearance may allow her to discover truth about her Green Light addiction

Someone as smart as Lynn ought to have figured out by now that she's getting addicted to the Green Light-derivative that she's using to boost her scientific abilities but she still seems to think that she's neutralized the addictive part of the drug.

Since the very beginning of 'Black Lightning' Season 3, Dr Lynn Stewart (Christine Adams) has been focused on saving the lives of the metahumans captured by the A.S.A. Frustrated by the slow pace of work, Lynn has taken some drastic actions so that she could accelerate her research and save as many of the young metas as she possibly can.

While Lynn's motives are admirable, she still hasn't realized the trap that she's walked into. Lynn is yet to realize that Agent Odell (Bill Duke) manipulated her using subliminal messaging so that she would become addicted to Green Light and therefore to her work, ensuring the A.S.A got to use her research while also making her dependent on them for her supplies.

As of 'Black Lightning' Season 3 Episode 7, Lynn now has administrative access to the A.S.A's mainframe, which means all of Odell's dirty secrets have been opened up to her. Once she begins digging into those files, there are sure to be quite a few big reveals but the real truth behind her addiction is the one that's bound to hit Lynn the hardest.

Someone as smart as Lynn ought to have figured out by now that she's getting addicted to the Green Light-derivative that she's using to boost her scientific abilities but she still seems to think that she's neutralized the addictive part of the drug. Surely there's at least a little professional hubris involved but the real reason she hasn't noticed her addiction is that she's been so focused on helping others that she's forgotten to take a moment to examine herself.

To Odell's credit, he played Lynn like a fiddle, manipulating her into doing exactly what he wanted while still making her think it was all her idea. However, even Lynn's drug-addled mind has to accept the truth when it's staring her right in the face.

'Black Lightning' Season 3 Episode 8 will air on The CW on December 2.
