'Black Lightning' Season 3 Finale: Fans say Bill Henderson will be missed but praise show for 'strong ending'

'Black Lightning' Season 3 has finally come to a very satisfying end, delivering a total victory for Jefferson Pierce / Black Lightning (Cress Williams) and his family and a complete defeat for the ASA who have made the past few months a living hell for Freeland. But no victory comes without sacrifices and the war for Freeland was won by the blood of one of Jefferson's greatest friends.
Inspector Bill Henderson (Damon Gupton) has been a beloved part of the show from the very beginning and in 'The Book of War: Chapter Three', Henderson saves Jefferson's life at the cost of his own. It's a fittingly heroic death for the man but that doesn't mean it was any less heartbreaking.
Damon Gupton had announced his exit from the show with a Twitter post in January 2020 writing, "And that’s a wrap. My final night on the set of @blacklightning. In December before X-mas I was told Chief Henderson is not in the plans for season 4 and that I would be let go. My Red heart to a helluva hard working crew. Big Folded hands to cast, writers, producers, staff, CW, WB #BlackLightning."
Obviously, the fans are pretty heartbroken about Henderson's death but they still enjoyed the episode and the way it closed off the season. Quite a few fans have been taking to Twitter to discuss the episode and here's what they've been saying:
"They didn’t have to take Henderson like that," one fan tweeted. "He was a good man." Another fan wrote, "I'll be hurting from that Henderson death for months..maybe even years 💔"
"Goddamnit #BlackLightning how you put on this emotional rollercoaster?" Yet another fan tweeted. "😢🤣♥️ I love this season way better than the second one. I am going to miss Henderson, but I am so proud of Khalil. And don't you dare take Grace away from Anissa."
"A STRONG ending to season 3 of #BlackLightning," one fan commented. "Sad to see Henderson go out, but extremely excited to see where Tobias is going from here. And Gravedigger?! Congrats @Blacklightning & crew for such an amazing season!"
The final episode of 'Black Lightning' Season 3 aired on March 9 on The CW.
