'Black Lightning' Season 3: Jefferson should call in the Justice League to deal with Gravedigger, say fans

Gravedigger is a pretty new addition to the show but he has already proven his worth both as an opponent for Jefferson and as a memorable character in his own right

Spoiler alert for 'Black Lightning' Season 3 Episode 14 'The Book of War: Chapter 1: Homecoming'

'Black Lightning' Season 3 is barrelling closer to the end of the Markovian conflict but things are getting worse before they can get better. As of Episode 14, the War for Freeland has begun in earnest and the fans have only one suggestion for Jefferson Pierce / Black Lightning (Cress Williams): Call in the Super Friends.

Before 'Crisis on Infinite Earths', Jefferson and his family were the only real superheroes on their Earth but now that they're part of Earth-Prime, there's a whole world of heroes outside the walls of Freeland.  Any of these superheroes would be glad to lend the Pierces a hand in ousting the ASA and taking down the Markovians.

"Here’s the problem with putting Black Lightning on Earth-Prime," one fan tweeted. "The city will be in danger of being bombed in next week's episode and I guarantee he’s going to try everything except calling one of the other heroes smh."

"#BlackLightning better call his new Justice League buddies," another fan wrote. "Gravedigger a beast"

Wayne Brady (Annette Brown/The CW)

Gravedigger (Wayne Brady) is a pretty new addition to the show but he has already proven his worth both as an opponent for Jefferson and as a memorable character in his own right. One fan broke down the character on Twitter writing, "So Gravedigger is our meta version of Captain America except he's fueled by hatred for racism and systemic oppression."

"Am I wrong for being on Gravedigger’s side?" Another fan wrote. "Because I kinda am..."

But while Gravedigger has become a fan-favorite within the short time he's been on the show, some of the fans are starting to have trouble keeping track of all the villains.

"Something that is both good and bad that #BlackLightning does is not have a true big bad in the same way the other Arrowverse shows do," one fan commented. "We always have a lot of minor villains: the ASA, Tobias, Lady Eve, Lala, Markovia, & now Gravedigger. It keeps things fresh, but also confusing."

"Part of me wishes they were more traditional because they never really end anyone's story," the user continued in the same thread. "We're always left wondering "Well what is _____ doing RN?". Having too many plotlines at once has always been a #BlackLightning problem tho. Oh well. Till next episode!"

'Black Lightning' Season 3 airs new episodes every Monday at 9/8 c exclusively on The CW.
