Sports has been on hold far too long and fans were disappointed during the hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Although, baseball is back along with a few other sports that report no live audience to ensure social distancing methods. Fans of the sport also got a treat when actor, comedian, filmmaker and writer Bill Murray started to trend on Twitter. While some thought he had died because "2020 has been a monster", others were glad to see the man have some fun.

Turns out the reason Murray was trending was that the actor, a baseball and a Cubs fan, abided to social distancing protocol and was virtually on the scoreboard singing 'Take Me Out To The Ball Game' at Wrigley. Fans wondered if the actor was sober, and if he wasn't, how much did he drink?

Nevertheless, fans couldn't be happier that the sport was back and that they got to see Murray's "utter hilarity". Many sports networks took to the social media channel to post a video of the occurrence, and well, it's classic Murray, if anything. The actor is seen clutching a giant stuffed bear urging fans to sing along with him, as he burst into song, with a few screams here and there. The end of the video also sees the actor shaking the bear screaming, "Let's get some runs!"

"Bill Murray singing Take Me Out To The Ballgame with a giant bear in a bar on Opening Day is the Twitter content I’m here for. I’ve missed sports..." tweeted one fan with another adding, "Bill Murray singing 'Take Me Out to the Ballgame' while holding a big teddy bear is something I didn't know I needed until now." One more said, "Bill Murray drunk and singing 'Take Me Out to the Ballgame' via Zoom is peak 2020, and I am here for it." Another tweeted, "Bill Murray is me drunk singing to my dogs if we’re being honest."

While we aren't' sure if the actor was being the comedian he is or had a few pegs to drink, fans took to Twitter to speculate how much alcohol the actor could have consumed. "Bro was MY FAVORITE PERSON EVER drunk and singing take me out to the ball game because BILL MURRAY IS THE MAN!" wrote one fan, while another speculated, "I'm thinking your more than a few beers in huh bill Murray but pls continue because this is what 2020 is all about." While fans enjoyed the return of baseball, many were happy to hear Murray, with some even getting sentimental, speaking about how we need humor in "weird times like these".

"Bill Murray is a national treasure. The Cubs should fill Wrigley with cutouts of Murray from all his movie roles," suggested one fan. "Bill Murray is my spirit animal," wrote one fan. Another wrote, "I’m not a cubs fan but I do love Bill Murray and am oh so happy baseball is back." As we had also said above, some fans of the actor were terrified as they thought the actor was trending on Twitter for very different reasons. "Don’t ever make Bill Murray trend again 2020. I can’t handle that kind of stress wondering for 3 seconds if he died," wrote a fan among many others. So no, the actor isn't dead, he is just trending for being the hilarious comedian he is and the internet sure had a good laugh with that stint of his.
