Joe Biden's inauguration ceremony was a cause of celebration for many people. The closed-off ceremony saw heightened security measures and the likes of several former presidents and important public figures. Among those present was former Democrat president Bill Clinton and his wife and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. The couple arrived ahead of Joe Biden's ceremony at the US Capitol in Washington DC but no sooner than they made an appearance, Bill started trending on Twitter and was slammed for his face mask blunder.

The 74-year-old, who even appeared to be dozing off at one point during Biden's speech, seemed to have some issues with his mask. On several occasions, Bill's face mask slipped off his face beneath his nose. Other times, his mask rode up and over his eyes as he tried to talk. Clearly, Bill was wearing a mask that was one too many sizes wrong.

People on Twitter did not fail to notice Bill's mask. "The petty in me cannot help but note that while Hillary is wearing her mask properly, Bill appears to be having some nose issues," one tweeted.

Bill then went around mingling with other top politicians as they waited for Biden to take the stage. Former presidents Barack Obama, George W Bush and Bill, as well as their spouses, were also present at the Capitol for the scaled-back high-security ceremony.

"Amid all the uplifting sentiments on here today, I am going to say I was not one bit surprised to see Bill Clinton’s nose hanging out of his mask. OF COURSE he is one of those nose guys," another user added. "So much goodness in this morning and then there's Bill Clinton wearing a mask," a person tweeted accompanied by a video of Bill trying to talk as the mask drives up his face.

Clinton arrived on the stage ahead of the 46th President's swearing-in ceremony and left most viewers stunned by the wrong-sized mask and the violation of public safety. "I don't know that I have anything to add to the sentiments shared by my friends. But can someone help Bill Clinton find a mask that fits properly?" one user tweeted.

At a time when the coronavirus cases continue to soar and prevention is better than cure, those watching from their homes were baffled that elected officials would not adhere to safety precautions. "Watching a few, very few, snippets from last night on youtube. why the hell didn't someone tell bill clinton to put the mask over his nose? what a fool," one tweeted. "God if I have to I'll go through that ceremony footage and show you dozens of Joe's attendees lowering their masks for selfies and other mundane reasons - and let's start by telling @BillClinton how to wear a mask properly," another added. One said, "The fact that Bill Clinton doesn't know how to wear a mask has been extremely entertaining during this inauguration."

Earlier in the day, Biden signed an executive order mandating mask usage and social distancing on federal property. But before that, many hope it doesn't become a 'superspreader event'.
