Biden claims he 'outperformed' expectations, Internet says the truth 'is not all rosy'

Joe Biden bragged about all that he has done, claiming that he 'got an awful lot done' in one year

In a wide-ranging press conference on Wednesday, January 19, President Joe Biden said he has 'outperformed' expectations. He also slammed Republicans for working against him. 'It's been a year of challenges but also been a year of enormous progress,' Biden said in his second solo press conference at the White House. 

In addition to admitting that he probably would have to break up his stalled Build Back Better bill to get it passed, predicting a Russian 'move in' on the Ukraine and defending the withdrawal from Afghanistan, Biden bragged about all that he has done, claiming that he has 'outperformed'. "Look I didn't over promise. But I have probably outperformed what anybody thought would happen," Biden said. The president bragged about how many people got vaccinated in his very first year in office, and spoke about his American Rescue Plan, which is known for providing $1.9 trillion in COVID relief money in his early days as a president.

"Do you think of any president has done as much in one year? Name one," Joe Biden said. "I don't think there has been much on any incoming president's plate that has been a bigger menu than the plate I have. I'm not complaining. I knew that. And the fact of the matter is, we got an awful lot done. An awful lot done."

Biden also criticized Republicans for stalling legislation on Capitol Hill. He said that he didn't expect GOP lawmakers to be so unsupportive in his first year. "I did not anticipate that there would be such a stalwart effort to make sure that the most important thing was that President Biden didn't get anything done," Biden said. "Think about this. What are Republicans for? What are they for? Name me one thing they're for," he added. "I haven't been able to do so far is get my Republican friends to get in the game and making things better in this country."

'Kindergarteners outperform Joe Biden'

Biden is now being slammed on social media for saying he has outperformed. "What an idiot. I figured you would be a horrible president but after one year you were worse than I even expected. So yes, you you did "outperform expectations"," one user wrote. ".@POTUS How did you "outperform?"The vaccines were here before you.Your party is responsible for the economic disaster through billions in handouts.Your party backed the domestic terrorism of 2020. You are singlehandedly responsible for our energy crisis. You're due low approval," one user commented, while another said, "The sad thing is you probably believe what you are saying…so to clarify….you did not ’outperform’ this year. The failures are huge, lack of bill passage, Afghanistan, inflation, approval rate 30-40%, etc. Your staff needs to tell you the truth, its not all rosy."
