Ben Affleck recounts living with Matt Damon's filthy habits, would 'not suggest living with him'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: During an appearance on 'The Late Late Show with James Corden,' Ben Affleck revealed that he and his brother, Casey Affleck, were roommates with Matt Damon in the early days of their careers. Ben playfully called out Damon for being a dirty roommate, stating, "We went on a 'no cleaning strike' to see how long until Matt realized, 'God, I'm covered in garbage.' But it didn't work. He went like two weeks without touching the apartment." Ben went on to joke that he and Casey were eventually forced to clean up themselves.
Ben revealed that his longtime friend and housemate Damon was a filthy roommate back in the early days of their careers. Ben and Damon began living together in Los Angeles in order to help save money while they both tried to get their acting careers off the ground. According to Ben, Damon was completely oblivious to the mess and greeted them with a casual "‘Hey, what’s going on fellas?’"

Ben also revealed some less-than-flattering details about their time as roommates. According to Ben, Damon was a 'filthy' roommate, as he had a "remarkable ability to mentally block things out." During his stay, Affleck recalled walking into the apartment to find Damon playing Sega Genesis surrounded by "concentric circles of garbage," including "maggot"-covered pizza boxes and leftover sushi. Ben added that he would "not suggest living with" Damon, despite praising him as a 'beautiful' and 'brilliant' guy. He also gave a shout-out to Damon's wife, Lucy Barroso, saying, "God bless his wife, Lucy. There is a place for you in heaven."
Damon's unpaid bills
Ben further joked about Damon's forgetfulness when it came to paying bills, even when they were struggling to make ends meet. "When the 'Bourne Identity' came out, I was pretty psyched," Ben quipped. "But Matt's never paid a bill to this day." Ben went on to reveal that Damon would often question why the lights were off, to which Ben would have to remind him that "the utility company needs money to continue to fund our electricity."
The two actors shared a tight bond in their early years, with Ben revealing that they even had a joint bank account while living in Boston. "We were trying to save money and pay the bills," Ben explained, adding that they needed to be frugal in order to "take the train to New York to do the next audition." Despite Damon's forgetfulness when it came to paying bills, Benk has remained close with his friend and collaborator throughout the years, working together on films such as 'Good Will Hunting' and the upcoming 'The Last Duel.'
