‘Below Deck’: Fans annoyed with Abbi for quitting her job as a deckhand despite knowing that Tanner was sick

'Below Deck' fans think that deckhand Abbi Murphy quitting from her job while her fellow crew member was sick was extremely unfair and annoying.
PUBLISHED NOV 12, 2019

Abbi Murphy came on ‘Below Deck’ like a storm with her beautiful ginger tresses and constant bickering about how “hard life was on deck”. We heard her frequently mention her sailboat days with her boyfriend Patrick in Greece, and she seemed to be missing it too much and constantly kept comparing her work on a sailboat with the work on the yacht.

Abbi began getting annoyed when she was asked to tie her hair up so that there wouldn’t be any mishaps while she was working, and later she was told about how important communication can be and that she’d have to always keep her radio on. These two constructive criticisms/feedbacks combined with the infamous sudden “text engagement”, pushed our lady deckhand to quit her job saying this isn’t what she expected or signed up for, and wanted to be with her fiancé.

She couldn’t have chosen a worse time to throw in the towel since her fellow deckhand Tanner was very sick and he couldn’t perform his duties efficiently. So the deck crew was short of two team members and Ashton Pienaar, the bosun and Brian, had to pick up the slack and work harder than usual.

Fans were very annoyed to see Abbi quit, and took to social media to express the same. A fan tweeted, “Abbi was yet another wasted cast member on #BelowDeck (cough cough Kevin). Asked to put hair up and keep radio on and it's the end of the world. Why do people sign up for this shit when they won't do the job or have no experience? TV fame?”. Another fan commented, “@BelowDeck @capthlr why did Abbi even take the job? It’s not @AshtonPienaar fault that she’s not happy.  Guess what Abbi, no one is happy at work. That’s why it’s called work. Most ppl would do that job for free just to be there, like Capt said! #BelowDeck”.

Fans feel that it was unfair of Abbi to complain about having a “hard day” while her peer Tanner was sick and still working, while she was just lounging on the yacht after resigning. A fan wrote, “...watching tonight's #BelowDeck & Tanner is so right on about Abbi-- "this girl is a tornado of emotion!" [I knew after episode 1 that she'd bail] Meanwhile, he's been working nonstop while vomiting, feeling "like absolute death." #tornadoofemotion”. Another fan echoed similar thoughts with, “Screw Abbi and her “it’s been a hard day” BS. And then camera goes to poor Tanner who hasn’t eaten in 3 days, is puking his guts up and still working his ass off. #BelowDeck”. Sadly for Abbi none of the fans seems to be having any sympathy for her. “I would feel more sympathy for Abbi if she actually tried but she complained since day one and routinely underperformed.  #BelowDeck”, pointed out a fan.

For those of you wondering if Abbi and her Greek boyfriend are still together and if they got married, we are happy to inform you that the couple did get married and are happily sailing together. In an Instagram post, Abbi wrote about her small, private wedding which was attended by her father and was held at the town hall in Plymouth, Massachusetts. "My dad was there and it was a beautiful, meaningful and simple ceremony," Abbi captioned a photo taken during the big day on Instagram. "We didn’t want or need a fancy wedding because we only needed each other in that moment."

‘Below Deck’ Season 7 airs every Monday at 9 pm ET/PT only on Bravo.
