The year is just about to end and it’s time to look back at the best movies that the year had to offer us. The end of the year also means looking forward to the upcoming Golden Globes, which is only a week away from now. The nominations for the Academy Awards are in the process and will be announced soon.
In the meantime, the former president of United States, Barack Obama, shared his favorite movies of the year. We know that Obama is very active on his social media account and does not refrain from sharing his thoughts and opinions on things that matter, entertainment included.
Recently, he shared all the books he read and liked this year and then he went on to talk about movies. This comes a day after he posted about his favorite books of 2019. His list of favorite movies and shows covers some of the Emmy Award-winning projects and big movie projects like ‘Irishman’, ‘Ford Vs Ferrari’, ‘Little Women’, ‘Parasite’, ‘Transit’, ‘The Souvenir’, ‘Marriage Story’, ‘Amazing Grace’, ‘Just Mercy’, ‘Diane’, ‘Birds of Passage’, ‘The Last Black Man in San Francisco’, ‘Apollo 11’, ‘Ash Is Purest White’, ‘Atlantics’, ‘Booksmart’, and ‘The Farewell’.
For television and streaming shows, he picked ‘Fleabag: Season 2’, ‘Unbelievable’, and ‘Watchmen’. For each of these shows, he “considered as powerful as movies”, as reported by Yahoo News.
While this is quite an exhaustive list, it’s not complete yet, because, there’s another movie that Obama has been rooting for. His home production Higher Ground Productions, which he founded with his wife Michelle Obama, distributed a documentary called ‘American Factory’. So, in a way, one of his favorite movies turns out to be one that he was personally involved in. The plot follows the story of a Chinese billionaire who buys a closed General Motors plant in Ohio in 2008, and invests in auto glass production, creating jobs for 2000 blue-collar Americans. The movie is currently available on Netflix.
And thus, we slowly move towards another year of interesting movies and television shows and look forward to the upcoming Academy Awards that will honor movies like these and much more!
