Shocking video show store employee 'snatching' baby after mother turns her back for SECONDS
ALBERTON, SOUTH AFRICA: A shocking video captures a baby being snatched by a stranger after her mother turned her back on her to pick up food from a refrigerator at a South African supermarket
Mother of two, Danielle Wolff took to her Facebook handle to share CCTV footage from the SuperSpar security office and gave her own account of what happened with her and her eight-month-old daughter at the supermarket. In the video, the mother revealed that she had placed her daughter on a child seat on the shopping trolley to pick up some things from a refrigerator at her local SuperSpar store in the city of Alberton, near Johannesburg.

As soon she bent down to pick up the item, a supermarket employee calmly walks over and picks up her daughter from the shopping trolley before walking away. Thankfully, the mother was quick enough to sense that her daughter was missing from the trolley.
As soon as Wolff discovered what had happened, she shouted at the employee who was trying to run away holding the baby in his arms. She ran to him and shouted, "Where were you taking her? What were you going to do with her?" while taking her baby back.
"He is smiling and laughing and I say it isn't a joke and it's not amusing. He tells me he walked past the trolley and my daughter's arms were up so he picked her up. I am frozen and confused. Why is he laughing? I tell him it's not funny," Said Wolff.
"You don't touch a child, you don't take a child. I am unsure what to do next and the man again approaches me to 'demonstrate' what my daughter was doing. He said she wanted to go with him and I am so angry, shocked, hysterical and I'm shouting 'Where were you taking her? What were you going to do with her?;" she added.
Wolff instantly called her husband Bradley who filed a police complaint for attempted baby snatching after closely reviewing the CCTV footage obtained. South African Police warrant officer Gerhard Cornellius confirmed a case of attempted baby-snatching was under investigation and revealed that the staff member had been arrested by the officials.
Reacting to the incident, a SuperSpar spokesman said, "We have provided the CCTV footage to the police and management are fully co-operating with the authorities in their investigation. We are extremely relieved a reported case of baby snatching was foiled on Sunday and we can confirm we immediately decided to suspend one member of staff."
"We will take further action based on the results of the ongoing investigation and the SPAR group is reaching out to the family to offer any help they need including counseling. The SPAR group adopts a zero-tolerance approach to crime and will ensure the strongest possible consequences to those who commit crimes in our stores to ensure customer safety," the spokesman added.
