A teenage girl, Ayzhan Edilova, who was reported missing on March 19 has been found dead. She was reportedly raped and then killed before her body was dismembered. Her chopped-off head was also boiled by the killer. The suspect is now in custody. He was caught based on evidence that included CCTV footage in which the victim and the killer were seen getting into the elevator of his home.
The dismembered body of Edilova was found in the south-eastern city of Almaty, the former capital of Kazakhstan. The alleged killer's home was also raided by the police while they investigated the case of the missing teenager.

Who was Ayzhan Edilova?
Ayzhan Edilova, 19, a fashion designing student, was reported missing 10 days ago on March 19 when she did not return home from work. She had been working at a local tailor shop at the time.
It was also revealed that the suspect had gotten in touch with Edilova on social media shortly before she had disappeared. The messages exchanged between Edilova and the suspect revealed that he had asked her to come to his home on March 19 to check the fittings of a new suit.
CCTV footage revealed Edilova enter the elevator of the man's apartment two days before her remains were found in his flat. Upon arrival, the cops were not allowed entry so they reportedly had to break the door down to conduct the raid.
Edilova's traumatized brother was quoted by The Sun as saying "He [the suspect] killed my sister and spent about 24 hours dismembering her body." He then added, "He removed all of her teeth and nails and put each of them in a separate plastic bag. The maniac severed and boiled her head.”
Who is the suspect?
The suspect, 28, slashed his own throat when the cops arrived at his flat. The man who has a medical degree received medical aid on the scene before he was transported to the hospital where his condition was then stabilized. At the time of interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to dismembering the remains to attempt covering up his crime.
He dismembered Edilova's body and scattered her body parts in rubbish containers around the city. He not only dismembered the victim's body but also boiled her head in an attempt hide her identity so that he would not be linked to the crime.
Police official Rustam Abdrakhmanov stated, "The suspect is under arrest." He further stated, "He is being treated from his injuries under the supervision of a police convoy. Forensic examinations to establish the exact circumstances of the victim’s death are underway."
The suspect, once he is discharged from the hospital, will be sent to jail. The officials also revealed that if the suspect is deemed "sane", he will be convicted of "murder committed with particular cruelty". The expected sentence is life imprisonment. A source within the local police department also revealed that the suspect admitted to killing Edilova after allegedly luring her back to his apartment and raping her.
