Man who grabbed 13-year-old schoolgirl off street and filmed himself raping her sentenced for 11 years
A man was sentenced for 11 years in jail in July 2018 in London for grabbing a 13-year-old schoolgirl off the street and then filmed himself raping her.
Reports state that the 22-year-old Omieke Glenn grabbed the girl when she walking to a friend's house and then threatened to hurt her if she did not come along with him, according to the Daily Mail. Glenn then dragged her to a porch outside a house in Southwark, south London and then filmed himself raping the victim on his mobile phone in May last year.
The perpetrator reportedly raped the child again despite being interrupted by her friend who was looking for her. A jury at Inner London Crown Court found Glenn guilty of two counts of rape at an earlier trial and sentenced him to prison for 11 years. Reports state that he will also serve an additional five years on license because of the seriousness of the crime.
The court was told that the victim reported the Glenn immediately after the crime and he was apprehended the next day, according to reports. The assaulter, who is from Southwark, reportedly denied two counts of rape. Glenn was reportedly identified through an ID parade and forensic evidence and was charged in December.
Met's Child Abuse and Sexual Offences Command's Detective Constable Amy Beautridge said, "The young victim has shown immense courage from the start by coming forward and telling police about the abuse she suffered at the hands of Glenn."
"She has assisted the investigation throughout which has helped to ensure that her attacker has been brought to justice. I hope that this sentencing result brings some closure for the victim so she can move forward with her life," the detective added.
The Daily Mail reported Detective Inspector Colin Archer saying, "Glenn has been exposed as a highly dangerous individual who had a callous disregard for the harm he caused when satisfying his own sexual needs. His actions were worsened by the fact he filmed the attack, one can only presume for his own gratification or to share with others for theirs."
"I would like to thank the victim for having the strength, bravery, and courage, not only to come forward but to see the matter through to trial," Archer added.
