An award-winning police officer with the Bossier City Police Department has turned himself in to the authorities after he was charged with 40 counts of sexual abuse of animals, spokesman for the Louisiana State Police Trooper Glenn Younger has confirmed.
Thirty eight-year-old Terry Yetman, working with the BCPD since November 2014, allegedly taped himself performing sexual acts on the unspecified animal, reports the Daily Mail.
An investigation into the case was launched in August as part of an ongoing probe by the Louisiana State Police Special Victim’s Unit. During a search, the authorities found the pornographic videos on his devices, after which an arrest warrant was issued on Wednesday. The State police revealed that Yetman has been charged with 20 counts of sexual abuse of animals by performing sexual acts with an animal, and 20 counts of sexual abuse of animals by filming sexual acts with an animal.
While the animal has not been identified by the state police, they have confirmed that the animal, belonging to Yetman, has been rescued and is safe.

According to an LSP spokesperson, the investigation is “far from over” and Yetman may be charged with more crimes in the case. He is being held at the Bossier Parish jail since Wednesday night on a combined bail of $350,000. Yetman, who has been on a paid administrative leave since the department was informed of the LSP probe, would continue to be on leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation by the BCPD, Bossier City Police Department spokeswoman Traci Landry said.
The 38-year-old is the recipient of the 2018 Trey Hutchinson Award, which is presented in memory of Bossier City Police Officer Trey Hutchison, who was slain in August 2004 while responding to a 911 domestic violence call. It is an honor bestowed on the members of the Bossier Domestic Task Force who champion the rights of domestic violence victims and their families. Yetman, who was working in patrol division of the department, had won the award for his contributions in October.
Forcechange.com, a website dedicated to posting petitions to "change your world", has petitioned District Attorney of Bossier Parish Schuyler Marvin to punish Yetman for the alleged crimes. The goal of the petition is to "prosecute Terry Yetman to the fullest extent of the law for his alleged sex with animals."
The petition reads:
"Dear District Attorney Marvin,
A police office in your parish has been charged with 40 counts of sexual abuse involving animals. The accused, Terry Yetman, recently surrendered himself to the Louisiana State Police Special Victims’ Unit after learning that there was a warrant against him. The investigation began as early as August but the warrant was not successfully filed until now. The warrant was meant to capture electronic devices allegedly belonging to Yetman.
Yetman has been charged with 20 counts of performing sexual acts on animals and 20 counts of filming sexual acts with animals. Electronic media seized during the search warrant allegedly depicts Yetman having sex with animals. Local law enforcement claims the investigation is continuing and that more charges might be filed depending on what new evidence is unearthed. It is unclear if this is an anomalous incident or part of a larger criminal network. Please do not allow a case featuring a crime this distasteful slip under the rug. I demand that you prosecute the accused to the fullest extent of the law."
