The series creators heighten the suspense as Fire Lord Ozai (Daniel Dae Kim) unveils his true plan in the final episode, leaving fans eagerly anticipating another season.
Avatar Aang turns into a vengeful spirit
Commander Zhao (Ken Leung) enters the water kingdom and identifies the moon spirit that lies in the water of the most sacred place in the north. He captures the spirit and announces himself as a legend.
While Iroh (Paul Sun-Hyung Lee) and Aang (Gordon Cormier) try to stop him, Zhao stabs the moon spirit, throwing the entire world out of balance.
As the water tribe begins to collapse, Avatar Aang steps up to destroy the fire tribe. Placing the needs of the world above his own, he makes the impossible choice and submerges himself into the sacred water turning him into an enormous creature that causes wrath to fire army.
Aang gives himself to the ocean spirit, allowing it to channel its rage through him and access the power of an avatar.
Princess Yue (Amber Midthunder) reveals that there is no Aang anymore as he has now turned into a vengeful spirit who will roam endlessly looking for its partner (moon spirit) but will never find it.
Princess Yue makes a selfless sacrifice to revive the moon
As the killing of the moon brings imbalance to the whole world, Sokka (Ian Ousley) asks Princess Yue if anything can be done to bring the moon back to life. She realizes that she was touched by the moon's spirit as a child and therefore she has the moon's life within her.
Yue makes the ultimate sacrifice by submerging into the water, thus bringing the moon back to life. As the moon finally shines bright, the ocean spirit turns calmer and returns Aang.
Fire Lord Ozai reveals his actual plan in the finale episode of 'Avatar: The Last Airbender'
Following the Fire Kingdom's unsuccessful attempt to destroy the water tribe and capture the Avatar, Fire Lord Ozai reveals his true plan. He mentions to Great Sage (Francois Chau) that attacking the north was just a distraction while his real target is Earth Kingdom.
Omashu, the Earth Kingdom's second-largest city, has fallen into the hands of the Fire Nation, with King Bumi (Utkarsh Ambudkar) captured and held captive.
Ozai says, "Now only Ba Sing Se stands between us and the total conquest of the Earth Kingdom," which means that Ba Sing Se, the capital of the Earth Kingdom, is his next target.
Unfazed by the destiny of his son, Prince Zuko (Dallas Liu), perhaps signaling that he no longer relies on him as one of the final shots of the series shows his daughter, Azula (Elizabeth Yu) leading an army.
