'Avatar: The Last Airbender' Episode 1 starts with the Fire Nation attacking the Earth Kingdom. However, there's a lot to unpack in the first episode.
Who is Aang?
In 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' Episode 1, viewers are introduced to Aang, a 12-year-old Airbender who has just discovered from his elders that he is the new Avatar.
Aang’s best friend is his sky bison, Appa, while his teacher is Brother Gyatso. Airbenders and his teachers have asked Aang to learn the other bending abilities so he can fight back against the Fire Nation.
Upon discovering his identity as the Avatar, Aang grapples with emotional turmoil, expressing, “I never asked to be special. I am scared of my power.” He is the prophesied chosen one who can master all four elements.
In a state of confusion, Aang flies away with Appa to clear his mind. Meanwhile, the Fire Nation attacks the Airbenders. During the attack, Aang's Avatar powers activate and his tattoos turn blue. He is lost in the ocean and ends up frozen in a giant block of ice for 100 years.
Fire Nation annihilates the Airbenders to conquer the world
The world is divided into different regions based on the elements of fire, earth, water, and air, with the inhabitants of each region known as benders.
However, the leader of the Fire Nation wants to conquer the world. In 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' Episode 1, Fire Lord Ozai, the dictator of the Fire Nation, launches a massive attack against the Airbenders.
Fire Nation is successful in destroying the Airbenders but Avatar Aang survives as he is encased in an iceberg for 100 years.
