Asya Khamsin: Fashion designer alleges Sam Brinton 'wore' her 'custom-made outfits' she lost at airport in 2018
HOUSTON, TEXAS: A Tanzanian fashion designer based in Houston claimed on Wednesday that clothing worn by former DOE official Sam Brinton was in her luggage, which she reported missing in Washington, DC, in 2018. Asya Khamsin allegedly made a claim on Monday, sharing side-by-side photos of herself wearing one of her outfits next to what she believes is a photo of Brinton wearing the same one in a Tweet.
She wrote on Twitter, "My name is Asyakhamsin tanzanian fashion designer based in houston Texas USA I lost my bag 2018 in DCA recently I heard the news on @FoxNews about @sambrinton luggage issue, surprisingly I found his images wore my custom made outfits which was in the lost bag on 2018."

Missing luggage
On March 9, 2018, Khamsin reported her luggage missing after it vanished from the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. Her clothing was never found, and the case was never solved. In communications shared with Fox News Digital from March 2018, Khamsin pleaded for assistance locating her bag, claiming it contained expensive clothes, shoes, jewelry, and other personal belongings.
Her one-of-a-kind designs, however, began to appear on Brinton in recent news reports amid allegations of luggage theft at other airports. As a result, she filed a complaint with the Houston Police Department in December. After several theft allegations surfaced, Brinton was fired from their job at the Department of Energy (DOE) last year.
'He wore my clothes, which were stolen'
Khamsin recently told Fox News Digital that she recognized her designs on Brinton, who had been prominent in the news cycle. She said, "I saw the images. Those were my custom designs, which were lost in that bag in 2018," She further added, "He wore my clothes, which were stolen," she told Fox News Digital in an interview.
On December 16, Khamsin filed a complaint with the Houston Police Department after seeing her clothing in recent media reports about Brinton that resembled the ones in her lost bag. According to Khamsin's husband, she received a phone call from the FBI field office in Minneapolis regarding the complaint in late January, as reported by DailyMail.
Complaints against Sam Brinton
Brinton was charged on October 26 by Minnesota prosecutors with stealing a suitcase worth $2,325 from a baggage carousel at Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport in September. Brinton faced up to five years in prison for the alleged crime but was released without bail following a court hearing last week.
In early December, Nevada prosecutors charged Brinton with grand larceny of an item valued between $1,200 and $5,000. Brinton is accused of stealing a suitcase valued at $3,670 on July 6 at Las Vegas' Harry Reid International Airport, as reported by Fox5Vegas.
