Who was Ashli Babbitt's live-in girlfriend with husband Aaron? Bartender Kayla Joyce blames Trump for vet's death
Pro-Trump supporter Ashli Babbitt who was shot dead during the Capitol riots welcomed people of “all sexual orientations”, according to her brother Andrew. Days after her death, it has been revealed that the Air Force veteran and her husband Aaron Babbitt had a 29-year-old bartender Kayla Joyce as their "live-in girlfriend".
The couple reportedly met Kayla a year ago and welcomed her into their “open marriage”. Ashli’s brother said that his late sister was all for “Team America”. “She always said being an American is being an American, regardless of your race, your ethnicity or your beliefs. If you're team America, you're American regardless. That's how she always put it,” Andrew said in a statement.
Who is Kayla Joyce?
According to New York Magazine’s Intelligencer, Joyce met Ashli and Aaron in San Diego and lived there together. They reportedly had a three-way relationship with her only a few months into their marriage. Joyce, who is currently taking care of Aaron, said that she learned about Ashli’s death “through the news. Through live television.” She recollected, “I actually saw it first on video when I was on the phone with multiple hospitals trying to find her.”
“We were trying to get in touch with her once this sh*t was all over the media. We were trying to call and trying to call, and nothing. Her location services were off. We just couldn't find her, and finally, we saw the live video of her.” she added.
However, on the day of the riots, Joyce had no idea what her girlfriend was up to. She said, “I thought she was just going to a rally. And I think that was all it was until it wasn't. It was extremely unlike her to put herself in that position.”
Although Joyce claims that she doesn’t believe in QAnon conspiracy theories and neither did she follows Ashli on Twitter, the bartender blames President Donald Trump for her girlfriend’s death. She expressed, “I blame Trump. How could you not? I mean he is their figure, their president,” she said. “She wasn't a terrorist. She wouldn't have put herself in harm's way for any bad reason. If I could get into her head and pick her brain, I would.”
She is avoiding ‘attention’
As Ashli’s death caused a stir and the FBI began its investigation into the case, Aaron and Joyce made their social media accounts private. “I don’t want this attention. We don’t want this. She wouldn’t have wanted this. We were very local, private people. We barely even leave our community. We’re upset with her. We truly just never thought this would happen,” she said.
Aaron and Joyce are awaiting Ashli’s ashes to conduct a small memorial. Meanwhile, Ashli’s brother Andrew told Daily Mail that the family has not made any funeral arrangements.
