Rapper A$AP Rocky has now lent his voice to the growing demand for the 'Move Ya Hips' single to be released, asking his friend A$AP Ferg to promptly release the hotly-anticipated track which features rap queen Nicki Minaj. The hip-hop star recently tweeted, "SUMBODY TELL @ASAPferg2 DROP DAT S*** WIT HIM N NICKI ASAP. " The song in question, 'Move Ya Hips', features the talents of A$AP Ferg, Nicki Minaj, DJ Clue (Minaj's longtime collaborator) and Atlanta-based rapper MadeinTYO. The track has been a topic of fan speculation for many months now.

The single had originally been previewed online by DJ Clue as a mini snippet back in May on his Instagram Live, and many people got excited when they realized Nicki Minaj's alter ego Harajuku Barbie was clearly audible on the track. Most people assumed that the song had been scrapped when it didn't officially drop, but A$AP Ferg later confirmed that the song would be released "sooner than soon". That release announcement was further reinforced when MadeinTYO posted an extended clip featuring his own contributions to the song on his Twitter account. In June, Minaj had requested her Barbz fanbase to petition A$AP Ferg to release the track, saying "Y’all gotta light up Ferg comments everyday if you want MYH” in a now-deleted tweet. She had similarly requested her fanbase to keep spamming Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, asking them to release the original version of 'New Body', which later got altered to a reworked gospel version after Kanye and Nicki Minaj had creative differences. Rapper MadeinTYO had made a similar request, saying "I don’t talk to Ferg or Nicki every day, I’m just on the chorus. I want the song released as much as you all do but I have no control over it. If you guys still want it you need to spam Ferg.”

Many fans had taken it upon themselves to urge A$AP Ferg to release the track. Among the thousands of tweets found online, one follower had posted "Drop this banger now!!!! @NICKIMINAJ @ASAPferg #MoveYaHips." Another fan had posted "@NICKIMINAJ drop move ya hips. The streets want it #NickiMinaj #moveyahips." Many others had posted "Drop it y'all! We will make it #1. The Barbz are hungry" and "@ASAPferg this is a perfect time to drop #MoveYaHips."

So why is the song taking so long to release? One possible explanation is that A$AP Ferg is merely biding his time, waiting for an opportune moment to spring 'Move Ya Hips' on the music world, considering the coronavirus pandemic practically ground everything to a halt for a few months. Another possible explanation is that Ferg is busy with other collaborations, and there is even a possibility that he is looking to add another A-list guest feature to the track, as some fans have been actively speculating.

A$AP Ferg recently posted a picture of him talking to Lil Wayne on his Instagram account, so it's clear the pair are working on something special together, although that might be for another release altogether. But perhaps the most compelling reason for the track's delay has been provided by MadeinTYO himself, who noted, "Me and A$AP Ferg going to drop our track first. If you run it up & chart that record when we drop! I'm sure they won't have a problem dropping this soon." Which brings us back to A$AP Ferg's cryptic "soon" revelation, and has us asking the question, "How soon is 'sooner than soon'?"
