'Arrow' Finale: Five things we are going to miss sorely about the iconic superhero show

The CW's very first superhero show is finally coming to an end and it is certainly a sad day for fans of Oliver Queen

After an eight-season run that redefined the genre and spawned a whole universe of spinoff shows, The CW's very first superhero show 'Arrow' is finally coming to an end. It is a pretty sad day for fans of Oliver Queen / Green Arrow (Stephen Amell) and we are sure the show will be sorely missed once it is gone. So here is our pick of the five most important things we are going to miss, now that the series is finally wrapping up.

5) Those epic opening sequences

Right from the first episode, the show's opening sequences have followed a similar format, recounting Oliver's history on Lian Yu and talking about his transformation into a hero. Since then, the opening sequence has changed a few times but the basic format has always been there.

Seeing how The CW already has the 'Green Arrow & the Canaries' show planned as a sequel of sorts to 'Arrow', some form of these might still exist once the show is done, but without Oliver Queen's voice and story it will have become someone else. Something else.

4) The original team arrow

One of the biggest strengths of 'Arrow' has always been its excellent supporting cast and it all began with John Diggle (David Ramsey) and Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards). Though other members of Team Arrow such as Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy) and Dinah Drake (Juliana Harkavy) may continue their journeys in other shows, this will most likely be the last time we get to see these two characters on screen. Hopefully, they might still make the occasional guest appearance on other Arrowverse shows though it won't really be the same.

3) The bunker

Though it has gone through a few changes over the years, Oliver's secret headquarters has been a pretty integral part of the show from the very beginning. This place was more of a home for Oliver (and for the fans) than even his actual home, a place where history was made time and again and a safe haven where he and his team could retreat to in times of danger.

Plus, that is where they shot that famous scene from the pilot where Oliver showed off his training regimen on a salmon ladder. The bunker is just one of those things that we have gotten so used to seeing on the screen every week that we never even realized how much we would miss it, until now.

2) The Star City we knew

Yes, 'Green Arrow & the Canaries' will be set in Star City but it is the Star City of 2040, a place radically different from the one that Oliver set out to save. Before the Arrowverse had a Gotham City, Star City (or Starling City as it was then called) was its stand-in, representing the dark underbelly of this fictional world.

Things have certainly improved for the city since then, in no small part due to Oliver's efforts, but it's always been a city on the edge. However, now that Oliver has truly saved not just the city but the whole multiverse, it looks like Star City might actually transform into a different place, as seen in the 'Green Arrow & the Canaries' backdoor pilot episode. While that is great for the people who live there, we would be lying if we said we won't miss the Star City we spent all these years with.

1) Stephen Amell

Of course, how could this list be complete without having this man right at the top? This whole universe of shows wouldn't have been possible without Stephen Amell to lead the way forward. Even during the more lackluster seasons of 'Arrow', Amell has carried the show forward on his well-muscled shoulders and, perhaps more importantly, he has become a beacon of hope and inspiration to others on camera and off it. We can't imagine what this world would have been like without Amell as the iconic Oliver Queen and honestly? None of us are ready to say goodbye just yet.

'Arrow' Season 8 Episode 10 'Fadeout', the series finale will air on The CW at 9 pm ET, with an hour-long special celebrating the show's run airing at 8 pm.
