Arizona teacher who had sex with student, 13, on multiple occasions was ‘grooming other kids with nude pics’
A married teacher may have been grooming more students in her class after it was revealed she had sex with a 13-year-old pupil in front of his pal in a classroom. 28-year-old Brittany Zamora was arrested in March 2018 after it was found she had been exchanging raunchy messages with the said student, The Sun reports.
As previously reported, the sixth-grade teacher engaged in sex acts with the teenager for months at an Arizona elementary school where she taught. Zamora is scheduled to be sentenced on July 12 at the Maricopa County Superior Court.
A recently published police report alleges the teacher behaved inappropriately with other students in the class as well, per The Arizona Republic. When the allegations first surfaced, Las Brisas Academy Principal Timothy Dickey interviewed students to get further details. Notes from those conversations were subsequently included in the police report.
According to one student, Zamora was too close to the kids in her class. They said she even attended some of her students' singing competitions and football matches outside of school. One parent, whose son is a friend of the victim, told police Zamora promised to send her child nude photos over the summer.
During class, Zamora reportedly asked the friend if he was circumcised, showing him pictures of male genitalia on her phone for reference. The disgraced educator many a time spoke with students outside of school via Instagram and another online instruction app called Classcraft, the document stated.
Last month, Zamora accepted a plea deal after being charged with 15 counts in total, including eight counts of sexual misconduct with a minor. Prosecutors dismissed twelve counts as part of the deal. The former teacher is likely to spend about 30 years in prison based on remaining charges, and would be in her 50s at the time of her release.
According to a civil lawsuit filed in January this year, the boy's parents are seeking $2.5 million in damages. Prosecutors revealed Zamora first began grooming the child via her school's own educational social media application.
In one of the messages, she told the boy he gets "sexier to me every day."
"I want you every day with no time limit," she added.
Following the x-rated conversations, Zamora had several sexual encounters with the boy -- once romping in her own classroom while another student acted as a lookout.
In another instance, students were watching an educational video in class when the two sexually touched each other. Court documents further stated the married teacher drove to the boy's grandparents' residence to have sex in her car while her husband was away fishing.
Zamora sent the boy several naked snaps and photos of herself wearing just lingerie, cops said.
She had started working at the school just a year before the accusations surfaced, and police believe she engaged in sexual intercourse with the teenager at least four times between February and March last year. The boy reportedly asked Zamora to sleep with him again after one such encounter.
"I know baby! I want you every day with no time limit," the teacher responded, adding, "If I could quit my job and (have sex with) you all day long, I would."
The boy who allegedly stood as a lookout while Zamora got it on with her victim, spoke to police. "I was one of the witnesses. One of the people that saw Ms. Zamora and my friend...touch each other," he said, adding, "It’s, like weird how a 27-year-old can, like, love a 13-year-old and do stuff. It’s just crazy. She’s not a good person."
What's more? Some students in the class were convinced Zamora and the boy were "dating."
"Everyone talks about them having an inappropriate relationship outside of class and at recess," a pupil reportedly told Principal Tom Dickey. "I've heard other kids in my class say that they think they are dating."
Now, the victim's embattled parents are claiming school authorities did not do enough to protect their son, and are suing Liberty Elementary School District for $2.4 million in damages. "His childhood is already gone. He's 13," his father told cops.
Zamora was seen in police bodycam footage panicking about being attacked in jail as she was being arrested. "I'm little. They're gonna tear me apart," she said at the time.
However, Zamora's husband remained supportive during her arrest. The pair have known each other since she was 16 and married each other in 2015.
"Brittany is an adult," he told the police. "She's the best, the best person I've ever known."
