Arizona heat breaks Internet as humans band together to help thirsty animals

The wildlife in Arizona were the worst-affected as the state grapples with a record 54-day long heatwave

PHOENIX, ARIZONA: While Arizona grapples with a record-breaking heat wave for 54 days straight, it is the people who are receiving praises online for thinking about the hapless wild animals.

Phoenix reportedly recorded a sweltering 110 degrees and above temperatures for a record 54 days straight. 

Summer 2023 has recorded heat waves in both the months of July and August, which stretched from Texas across New Mexico and Arizona to California's desert, per the Daily Mail.

National Weather Service meteorologist Matt Salerno predicted that on Sunday, September 10, too, the temperature could rise above 110 degrees. Predicting Sunday may be 111 degrees, Salerno said, “We do have one more day.”

How are the wild animals coping with the Arizona heat?

Summer has had a severe impact on the wildlife. Per CNN, in July, an Arizona wildlife center was receiving up to 120 animals a day who were suffering due to the immense heat. 

However, the Arizona Game and Fish Department supplied more than 400,000 gallons of water to the animals residing in the remote areas, per USA Today.

Humans help animals survive in Arizona heat

When nature decides to take vengeance, hapless animals receive the brunt. However, on the flip side, we see the wild animals getting help from local residents too.

With the temperature soaring, social media was flooded with numerous heart-warming incidents of animals being taken care of by kind-hearted people.

A person shared on X, "Younger bobcat just stopped by for a long drink of water at the birdbath. Overcast but no rain for us. We are way behind on rain this monsoon season."

In another instance, "Roadrunner came for a long drink of water today at the birdbath. Earlier in the day I saw two roadrunners chasing each other. "

Even deer were not immune to the charm of getting water from the birdbath, as the person wrote, "Sometimes the image isn't the angle you hoped for. One of the twin mule deer fawns gets a drink of water from the birdbath."

Sharing a photo of a bird drinking from a birdbath, a user tweeted, "Roadrunner drinking out of our blue birdbath. This photo and at least 90% of my photos was taken from inside our house. This bird bath provides constant entertainment."

Someone else wrote, "Good Morning folks. Be safe in the Summer heat and watch out for your pets. It would be nice if you could carry a cooler with ice and water in your car for awhile."

The person added, "Maybe even some disposable water bowls for animals. Arizona is burning up this year."

Sharing a heartwarming clip, another user wrote, "These animals get a chance to beat the extreme heat in Arizona, but getting some treats this week. Looks like they enjoyed the ability to cool off as temps remained close to 110° for high temps this week!"
