MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: The 35-year-old Manhattan woman was found dead in her car, apparently by suicide, but her heartbroken 75-year-old father, who is having a hard time explaining it, claims she left no note and refers to his daughter as "my whole world." Ariel Campbell, a psychotherapist, was found dead in the back seat of her Jeep on Sunday, March 5, after consuming lethal chemicals.

Brandt lime sulfur, commonly used to control pests on plants and fruits, was discovered in Ariel's passenger seat and had been combined with an unidentified substance to produce hydrogen sulfide gas, a toxic substance when inhaled, Daily Mail reports. According to devastated father David Campbell, 75, it may have something to do with the death of her mother Elizabeth last year.

Who was Ariel Campbell?

Ariel Campbell's apparent suicide occurred in her parked Jeep at the corner of East 56th Street and Sutton Place, near the East River, about a block from the house where she had previously lived with her family. Authorities believe the combination of a number of liquid chemicals discovered in the vehicle, which were found to be lime sulfur, killed her, Daily Mail reports.

Ariel Campbell was licensed clinical psychologist

Campbell was raised in affluence. As her LinkedIn page indicates, she attended the exclusive Dalton School before earning a bachelor's degree in psychology from Cornell College. She then went on to earn her doctorate in psychology from the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology, a department of Yeshiva University in New York. The bio says "licensed clinical psychologist specializing in cognitive behavioral therapy with adults, adolescents, and children. "Areas of expertise include treatment of anxiety disorders, depression, OCD and trauma," she penned, adding she had "significant experience working with patients of all ages, presenting disordered eating, emotion dysregulation, interpersonal difficulties, behavioral problems and general difficulties coping with typical life stressors."

Was Ariel Campbell okay?

Ariel's father David Campbell, a former CEO of Global Minerals and Metals Corp, believes her mother Elizabeth's death last year likely played a role in her apparent suicide. "I know she had a great deal of difficulty dealing with the loss of her mother and I can only imagine that's what drove her to this," said Campbell.

'She left no note'

Ariel, a clinical psychotherapist with a license who specialized in treating anxiety and mood disorders, kept her family in the dark about her potential suicide. "She left no note in her apartment or with her, so I don't know much about what happened and what's behind it," Campbell stated. He went on to describe the tragic loss, saying, "All I can tell you is that Ariel was my only child." "My wife and her mother passed away last year, and the two of them were my whole world. And now with her mother gone, Ariel was my entire world. And now she's gone. Both my wife and I could not possibly have loved her more," said the father. "And to avoid breaking out in tears, that's all I can really tell you," he added.
