Looks like the international success of the Lee Min-ho drama ‘Pachinko’ has helped the series bag a new season. The news comes right after Season 1 ended on April 29. The show featured Lee Min-ho playing a morally grey individual, who otherwise fits the South Korean ‘ideal rich guy’ character trope. The critically-acclaimed series became popular soon after its initial worldwide release on March 25. The eight-part drama released episodes, one-by-one, all through April 2022, leaving fans bereft after the final episode aired on April 29.

But, a day after the final broadcast, the makers of the ‘Pachinko’ told fans that a second season was on its way and will be out soon. Based on a 2015 American novel of the same name, the K-drama, ‘Pachinko’ warmly captures the action from the novel on a global scale. The story of the show begins with a tale of forbidden love between two ill-fated lovers, which draws on the unforgettable chronicles of the characters as they experience war, peace, love, parting, victory, and judgment.

As the characters travel back and forth between countries like South Korea, Japan, and the United States, the story caters to a wide range of audiences, cementing its global appeal and its subsequent success in both America and in Asian countries.

‘Pachinko’ gets Season 2 renewal

Known playing rich characters, Lee Min-ho tapped into fans' nostalgia for his previous characters as he played Hansu, the character we all loved to hate. The show is known for its vibrant characters. From Youn Yuh-jung and Kim Min-ha playing the old and young Sunja, Jin-ha as Solomon, Han Jun-woo as Joseph, among many others, the show's cast helped ‘Pachinko’ achieve drama excellence with their acting skills.

The series, with its short but impactful run, was produced by American television writer Soo Hugh, who announced a renewal of the show for a second season. She said, “I am indescribably happy to be able to continue this special story of a family with strong vitality alongside Apple, Media Reds, and the cast and crew of ‘Pachinko’, who trusted and supported the project.”

Soo Hugh also went on to say, “I want to thank the passionate fans for their support. It's an honor to be able to continue working with the production team, including the amazing actors.” The second season of ‘Pachinko’ will continue to tell the ongoing story of “war and peace, love and loss, triumph and reckoning” whereas it has been reported that the new season will continue the riveting story that spans generations.”
